Welcome to The TMZ Podcast. Deven here with Tony.
Tony (0:11)
What's up, Deven? How are you doing?
Deven (0:12)
How was your long weekend?
Tony (0:14)
It was very nice, very well-needed.
Deven (0:16)
Branson took an even longer one.
Tony (0:18)
Apparently so, I'm just joking. I hope everybody had a good Labor Day weekend.
Deven (0:23)
For sure. So we got some stories for you guys today.
Celeste Rivas' family is speaking out, and they support the death penalty for David if he is convicted.
Tony (0:39)
I'm not surprised, and honestly, I don't blame them.
Deven (0:43)
No, not surprising. This revelation came on the heels of what would have been her birthday, so obviously a super emotional time for her family. We'll get into that.
It appears Adam 22 and Lena the Plug are actually separating this time.
Tony (0:59)
This couple, or can we even call them a couple? I don't know. There's just been so much going on.
They're married still.
Deven (1:05)
Yeah, I would say they're a couple.
Tony (1:07)
Yeah, I guess, but they're separated now, so it's weird.
Deven (1:10)
Yeah, so on the heels of the fake divorce, now everyone doesn't know what to believe, but we'll tell you why Adam says they're separating, and then we'll get into some Burning Man headlines.
Tony (1:23)
Some crazy...
Deven (1:24)
Have you been to Burning Man? I've never been to Burning Man. I kind of want... I have like mild interest in going.
I do kind of think, though, that a lot of this stuff gets overblown as far as you see the headlines. You're like, oh my gosh, it's so crazy. I feel like if you actually go, it wouldn't be as crazy as...
Tony (1:44)
Well, some people, two people died there.
Deven (1:46)
Yeah, I mean, which obviously you don't want to see that. I know last year, I think there was just that, there was that guy that was actually murdered or there was a homicide. These ones do not seem like it was in that nature.
With all the stuff that goes on there, and it's like in the middle of nowhere, and it's probably like, if you have a medical emergency, it's probably hard to get to hospitals and stuff. So yeah, I wouldn't say it's like the safest place to be, but...
Tony (2:10)
Doesn't seem like it. And Diplo, he even posted a video of him walking apparently 15 miles. I don't believe... You don't believe him?
Deven (2:16)
I take everything Diplo says on social media with a grain of salt.
Okay, so we'll get into David first. So Celeste Rivas' family spoke out over the weekend through their attorney. I don't think anyone has heard anyone from her family actually speak face to face. They haven't done any interviews. They speak through the attorney they have. And essentially said that, and then also this was on the eve of, what would have been Celeste's 16th birthday. So obviously, emotions are high and I can't imagine what they're going through when she was supposed to be turning 16 and is no longer with them. But the full quote from the attorney was that if the death penalty were activated, it would be perfect for this kind of human being.
Tony (3:05)
And they continued, that's not in our hands, but rather in God's in the California justice system. And we've heard Nathan Hockman, he recently did a press conference. They're still deliberating the death penalty, whether they're going to bring it to trial or not. And we've seen David, his attorney's dropped out of the case and he's got some stuff to worry about. In that regard, it's just a lot going on. And honestly, I don't blame Celeste Rivas' family for feeling how they feel because all the details have come out, in this case, they're gruesome and they're only done by evil people.
Deven (3:37)
Yeah, and clearly they believe he was the one responsible. And if you are responsible for some heinous acts like that, especially to a family member, totally makes sense that that's kind of where they fall on the death penalty. But yeah, like you said, I mean, David, it's interesting. We posted some letters he was sending people over the weekend.
We posted the story over the weekend, but he had previously was sending some friend he made in jail letters about possibly sending him money. And it kind of just gave you a little more insight of what's going on in jail as far as David's concerned. And like you said, obviously, Blair Burke dropped out, which was his high-profile attorney. It seems that money is running out on David's side, which is kind of shocking, because obviously, you saw all the court documents and stuff about all the advancements he was getting from Interscope and all the money he was making.
