BlackRock launches a Bitcoin ETF that pays monthly income, and the Bank of Japan raised interest rates to a 31-year high. This is CoinDesk Daily.
BlackRock is launching a new Bitcoin ETF that pays income to investors. The Bitcoin Premium Income Fund, ticker BITA, begins trading today. It holds spot Bitcoin and shares of BlackRock's iBit, then sells call options on 25-35% of the portfolio to collect premiums and pay out monthly. Ventures, the team behind real-world asset perpetuals on hyperliquid, is winding down. The move halts trading in the open AI and entropic markets with all positions settled automatically. The team says it generated more than $650 million in volume during its run. But the closure points to consolidation in this hot new corner of the market. And, the Bank of Japan raised interest rates to a 31-year high, lifting its benchmark to 1% in its fight against inflation.
Rate hikes are usually bearish for risk assets, but Bitcoin held above the $66,000 level after the decision. This comes after the US-Iran peace deal boosted the overall crypto market on Monday. Get more updates on coindesk.com.
