Riot Platforms signed a $9.1 billion deal to lease computing power to a leading AI lab identified by Bloomberg as Anthropic. The agreement covers 191 megawatts at Riot's Rockdale, Texas campus. Two extension options could push total revenue to $16.1 billion.
The Bitcoin miner is selling its BTC to fund the build out. Its treasury shrank by 4,300 BTC last quarter down to 11,380. Lido has started moving more than $16.5 billion in staked ether onto Ethereum's newer validator design, its biggest upgrade since 2023
The consolidation will shrink Ethereum's total validator count by about a third, easing the load on the network's consensus layer. Lido expects it to cut attestation messages by roughly 29% per epoch. And the SEC is about to propose its first formal rule for crypto that sets more durable rules for crypto businesses. The three-member commission meets Friday to open the proposal for public comment.
