All right, everybody, the science got it wrong. Small, frequent meals, they work for fat loss. We're gonna break it down right now.
Doug Egge (2:33)
Let's go.
Sal Di Stefano (2:34)
Let's get to it.
Doug Egge (2:35)
I've been wanting to go on this rant.
Sal Di Stefano (2:37)
So, okay, so we need to give a little context. So, the bodybuilding world promoted this for a long time. And what they would say is that if you eat small, frequent meals, okay, so bodybuilders became known for eating six meals a day versus your typical three, that by doing so, it burned more body fat, that you got leaner.
And this is what bodybuilders are often guilty of, is they notice a result from a practice, and then they try to explain the science. Then the science gets debunked, and so the whole thing gets debunked, even though in practice it seems to still work.
Doug Egge (3:20)
And then we throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Sal Di Stefano (3:21)
Exactly.
Doug Egge (3:22)
And this is one of those things, by the way, I have an even better way of selling it that's wrong.
Sal Di Stefano (3:29)
What do you mean?
Doug Egge (3:30)
Well, what I used to say, okay, is that your metabolism is like a fire.
Sal Di Stefano (3:34)
Oh, okay.
Doug Egge (3:35)
Yeah. And we want to stoke that fire, and we want to sprinkle kindling. Like, if you threw kindling on that, versus a big log, what happens to that fire? Yeah. Right? Like, if you just, you took a log, and you cut it up in all kinds of little pieces of kindling, and then you spread it all day long, that fire is roaring. It's going to burn up that wood way faster. If you throw this big giant log on it, it's going to take forever to light that and burn that log down. And so that's like your metabolism.
Sal Di Stefano (3:58)
That's a nice visual. So what bodybuilders...
