If you like to strength train, if you like strength training machines, you can think bodybuilders, it's true, they were the ones that first used them and kind of popularized them. Look, you probably don't want to look like a bodybuilder. I know some of you do, but most of you probably don't.
But there are things you can learn from bodybuilders that will benefit you. I don't care what your goal is, there are things you can learn that bodybuilders have learned a long time ago that preach all the time. That's what we're going to talk about today. Five lessons from bodybuilders everybody could learn from. Let's go.
Adam Schafer (3:00)
True pioneers.
Sal Di Stefano (3:01)
They for sure were. In fact, good and bad, right? So bodybuilders have very specific goals and style of training. They're very extreme. They're very extreme type of sport. Although all sports at high levels are extreme. Bodybuilders I think are very visually clearly extreme. It's hard not to look at one and think that. But when it comes to strength training and all the things that we know by studies, and the things that we knew to study, it all started with them.
It really was them that slowly brought this to the mainstream. It was bodybuilders that made gyms a thing. Although gyms have now far surpassed it. I think we all owe something to them. This is true for not just for training, it's also true for diet. It's also true for hormone science. They were way ahead of the curve with that kind of stuff.
Justin Andrews (3:51)
What do they call them, the Pharmonauts?
Sal Di Stefano (3:54)
Cosmonauts. Cosmonauts, yeah.
Adam Schafer (3:55)
I mean, you said good and bad, but can't you justify or defend the bad? I feel like in everything that we've ever changed or evolved in, the early people that were pushing it, there's something bad about all of it.
