Time run at third.
Carrow hits a fly ball out in the deep left center field. It's back there. It is on!
Marc Silverman (0:36)
Edgar Carrow wins it!
SPEAKER_3 (0:39)
A swing and a drive! Come on!
Mike (0:41)
Deep left! Ball game over!
SPEAKER_3 (0:45)
A two run homer! Montgomery hits a fly ball pretty well. Deep left! And it is on!
He's won it!
SPEAKER_2 (0:57)
No chance!
SPEAKER_3 (0:59)
Picked up by Antonacci to flip to Richards. Out at first. We might get a challenge from the Royals' dugout. And the Chicago White Sox are playoff bound. Here's a 2-2.
Swing and a miss! Strike three.
Ball game over. Series over. It's a sweep. And we're headed to Cleveland.
Rick (1:25)
So we're going to go on the road.
SPEAKER_3 (1:26)
We're going to kick some ass.
Scotty (1:28)
And we're going to bring playoff baseball.
Marc Silverman (1:40)
He was right. Wasn't he, Mike Vassel?
Scotty (1:43)
Yes, he was.
Marc Silverman (1:43)
Where he's like, we're going to go to Cleveland. We're going to kick some ass. And then we're bringing playoff baseball back to the rates. And that's exactly what they did. They're up 2-0. Called a shot. Looking to end this. We're in the Shy Sox Bar with the fans. It's all brought to you by Corona. First pitch is what, 3-15? Is that what it is with the 2-30 pregame show coming up here? With Jeff Meller.
I want to give you the-
Tom Waddle (2:10)
It says 3 o'clock, but you know how that goes.
Marc Silverman (2:13)
Yeah. So yeah, it could be a few minutes after 3, whatever the case may be, 3-10.
Here is the lineup today. And I made a couple of home run plays tonight for the White Sox. Sam Antonacci leads off. He's your DH, so he is not in the field.
Miguel Vargas is at third. Mune at first, so he bats third. Cal Teal, your cleanup hitter. Chase Mydroff at second. Tristan Peters in center. Brayden Montgomery with the big hit in game two in right field. Randall Gritchick in left. Jesse brought up that that's interesting, considering the pitching matchup, but with an opener, they expect to change, and that's why he's batting eighth. And then Colson Montgomery is batting ninth, and he is at shortstop. I have plays Waddle today on Mune to hit a home run. I believe he's plus four something.
Tom Waddle (3:05)
Wow, that's good value.
Marc Silverman (3:06)
I thought so too, and he's been hot. And then Vargas, look, stars gotta be stars.
And Vargas has been very good after, I don't think he had a hit in the first series, but he's been good in these first two games. He was at plus five something.
Tom Waddle (3:22)
So, Vargas has also hit a home run against the guy that the Guardians are opening with. He's one for two with a home run, two driven in.
Marc Silverman (3:32)
Okay, so it should be a good day for hitting. It's a beautiful day at the ballpark. If you're not in the Chicago area, we've had some really nice weather lately, especially after all the rain that we've had this summer and into the early fall.
But two-nothing Sox. And your pitcher today is Sean Newcomb. We'll get the start and he's got to be on point. We will see if he'll pitch more rested, like he did in the first half of the season, because he was lights out at times.
Tom Waddle (4:00)
I'd be very interested to see what Will Venable does in terms of the usage of his entire pitching staff.
Marc Silverman (4:07)
And we haven't seen Davis Martin yet. Is that the plan to go hand it off to Davis or expect Davis Martin at some point today?
Tom Waddle (4:13)
I think expect the unexpected. I mean, they really, I don't think that they've telegraphed a whole lot of stuff.
Charlie (4:18)
I mean, you know that Grant Taylor-
Marc Silverman (4:19)
Has Fetty pitched his series? I don't believe he has, has he?
He closed the Houston game, and I don't believe he has pitched since. Could they use him if Grant Taylor's not available?
Tom Waddle (4:35)
I see Eric Fetty with only one appearance in the postseason so far.
Marc Silverman (4:39)
And that was a two-winning outing against Houston where he got the eighth and the ninth.
