Earle Meets World has taken over my timeline and frankly my life, but the most interesting part isn't even the main storyline. This is the ultimate politics and culture crossover and it is juicy.

Eliot Spitzer, the governor of New York, remember him?

Ashley Dupree (0:53)

Yes, I was, Kristen.

SPEAKER_4 (0:55)

She says her real name is Ashley DePray. She was 22 years old and says she didn't even know that her client was the governor.

Lynden Blake (1:02)

Well, all skeletons come out of the closet in politics and reality TV, so let's get into it.

Ashley Dupree (1:08)

That's when I found out what I was involved in. I didn't know the depth to my situation.

Lynden Blake (1:17)

I'm Lynden Blake and you're listening to That's So Criminal.

Ashley Dupree (1:21)

That's So Criminal.

Lynden Blake (1:24)

Okay, you're probably wondering why are we talking about this reality show about influencers on That's So Criminal? Well, because the lore of one of the main characters has this criminal history, this political history, and it's all kind of coming back to light because the person herself is talking about it. So yeah, the main storyline to me of Earle Meets World isn't the show's star, the influencer and the megastar, Alex Earle.

Alex Earle (1:52)

Get ready with me for a night out in Montauk. We were out last night and this guy was like, I am a singer, like can I sing a song for you? Alex Earle is not my lover.

Lynden Blake (2:03)

Alex Earle's face is everywhere. She's pretty, she's blonde, she's been on Dancing With The Stars, she's an NFL player, she is all over your TikTok and your social media. She's at the Super Bowl, she's at the Grammys, she's at everything. She's the big deal. If you don't know who she is, good for you. You're probably touching more grass than I am. And that's amazing. But that's why I'm talking about this case, because so many eyes are on this Earle Meets World show because of Alex Earle. But then what you get out of it is the lore of the stepmom, Ashley. Ashley Earle, she is married to Alex's dad TJ. And before Ashley Earle was a mom of three, a stepmom to the world's most popular influencer, she was Ashley Dupree. Does that ring a bell to you?

Yeah, that Ashley Dupree, the girl that took down the governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer.

It was criminal and the lore, I keep saying that word. It just keeps on giving even 20 years later.

Her story arc, I'm not going to lie, is one of my favorites of the show. And listen, I'm not saying she has never made any mistakes. This entire podcast is about her mistakes. But she is my favorite person on this show and on social media because she is consistently patriotic and speaking out about how much she loves our country and our military. And she's gone from scandal to a loving wife and a mother and someone who is firm in her beliefs and she speaks her mind. And dare I say, she has a lot of common sense. But how did she get here? In her own words, Ashley says she for years made one bad decision after another. And that's where the politics and the crime world collide for Ashley. But let's go back to the start. Fitting enough for Ms. Ashley Earle, who, by the way, this is all about people from New Jersey.

Ashley's from New Jersey, too. She moved to New York as a teenager to pursue a music career. She was a cocktail waitress doing the Can I Make It a Music thing. When someone told her she could make $1,000 an hour by going on dates with high-profile people. So she was like, this sounds like a pretty sweet gig. So she joined a luxury escort service called The Emperor's Club VIP. Make no mistake about it, Ashley knew what she was getting into, but at the time, she's hustling all these jobs, she's working her butt off trying to make it a music, and she wanted to be financially independent, so she was thinking, okay, this is a way for me to be able to support myself, and I will detach emotionally, it won't be a big deal.
