Hello, and welcome to Forever35, a podcast about the things we do to take care of ourselves. I'm Doree Shafrir.
Elise Hu (0:16)
And I'm Elise Hu, and we're just two friends who like to talk a lot about serums.
Doree Shafrir (0:21)
And today is a You Ask, We Answer episode where we get to all of your questions, your comments, your feedback, your concerns.
Elise Hu (0:29)
Your microjoys, yes, I know we did a call out for microjoys.
Doree Shafrir (0:33)
Yep, we have a couple of microjoys today. So yeah, we have a lot of good messages today. So thank you for all of those.
Elise, also, do you want to mention who's coming on the show again soon?
Elise Hu (0:43)
Yes, dermatologist Dr. Jenny Wang, my dermatologist, is joining us again on the show to answer your skin, skincare, skin issue questions. She's really awesome. She is not a skin fluencer. She is not a dermatologist influencer. She's just a working clinician who sees a lot of patients.
Her clinic also offers a lot of treatments and some of the newfangled procedures. And so she can answer your questions about those as well. So if you do have questions for Dr. Jenny Wang, or just want to write us and share micro-joys or if you need recommendations for things, you can reach us at the usual spots. Forever35podcast at gmail.com is our email, and our voicemail number to text or leave a voice memo is 781-591-0390.

Elise, what is going on in your neck of the woods?
Elise Hu (1:42)
By the time you all hear this, I will be coming back from a guy's weekend. You know, I do my girls' weekends. We do, like, you know, all-girl trips, and we've done, like, Palm Springs, we've done Big Bend and Marfa. But this was inadvertently, this past weekend now, is inadvertently a guy's weekend because my friend Steve, who is a photographer who's based in Philly, decided to get an Airbnb for a month down in Mexico City, one of my favorite cities. And he's like, there's five bedrooms. Anyone can come down at any sort of interval. And so I got some of my friends who happen to be available. And we're just gonna go down and hang out with Steve. And it's like all bros and me, the lady bro. So we're gonna go to like a Lucha Libre show.
Love Lucha Libre. It's like the precursor to WWE or WWF. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're gonna ride bikes. There's the Sunday bike ride through the city, Mexico City, they like close down main roads and everybody rides bikes. And it's just supposed to be an awesome experience. I didn't get to do it last time when I was there for my birthday. And so I'm just really excited to be out there. And then I guess in the big family news is for both of our families, the kids are back at school. So it's hard to believe it. Summer's already over, kind of.
Doree Shafrir (3:08)
I can't believe it. I mean, you and I have talked about how like, if you didn't grow up on the West Coast, the early start to the school year can be sort of disorienting. But like, I'm on board with it, you know?
Elise Hu (3:22)
Yeah.
Yeah. Just being able to have a predictable start and end time to the day, to the kids' days, like school days is really helpful. Because during day camps, during the summer, I have no idea where I'm supposed to be and when, because it changes every week.
Right.
And it's hard to keep up. But yeah, Isa, my middle started middle school, and she was a little nervous about it. But as soon as we got there and she saw all her friends on the front lawn and they were all taking pictures together and stuff, she just popped out of the car and they went. And then, you know, Ava was like, this is the first day of my last year of middle school.
And so she was really excited about that. And then Luna's on her own in elementary. But, and I teased this during casual chat, which is, Issa has curly hair. She's the only member of our family with naturally curly hair. And it's actually like naturally wavy. It's not crazy curly, like super, super small curls or anything like that. And now she's trying to play up that curliness. And so she's been watching a lot of like YouTube to see how to do that. And she got like a special brush and now she's drying her hair with a diffuser, that attachment at the end. And she's using curl cream and gel. And so for all the curly haired girlies out there, we've had kind of this conversation, I think maybe last year, but Isa wants to know kind of the best curly hair gear. And so I said, I would ask, I was like, do you want to leave a voice memo for the show? And she's like, no, you can just ask.
