Hello, and welcome to Forever35, a podcast about the things we do to take care of ourselves. I'm Doree Shafrir.

Elise Hu (0:17)

And I'm Elise Hu, and we're just two friends who like to talk a lot about serums.

Doree Shafrir (0:21)

And today, we have a You Ask, We Answer episode where we respond to all of your questions, comments, concerns, feedback, random thoughts, et cetera.

Elise Hu (0:32)

And we, last week, did not technically have a You Ask, We Answer episode. We had a You Ask, She Answers, You Ask, The Doctor Answers episode. But it was really fantastic. I got some texts about it because the dermatologist, Dr. Jenny Wong, came on, and she answered a whole slew of questions, a whole range of questions.

And I think that it sounds like a lot of y'all got a lot out of it. So we'll have to have her back. Yeah, she was great.

Doree Shafrir (1:02)

She was great. And we got so many good questions. So thank you so much for that. Elise, what's going on with you?

Elise Hu (1:11)

I have a lot of microjoys today. I'm, so many, so many things to talk about that are bringing me a lot of joy, and they have to do with like just over-seasoning things.

Megan (1:23)

So I'm doing this thing, yes.

Elise Hu (1:25)

So I've been, you know, I put furikake on everything, the Japanese rice seasoning. I put that on everything. I put it on my eggs. I put it on rice, obviously. I put it on fish. I put it on everything. Lately, and I've always been a big fan of dill. Like big dill girl loved dill.

And it's in one of my favorite salads in all of Los Angeles. My friend Rose's food hall has one place in it, it has six restaurants in it, but one of them, Compass Rose, which is also open at breakfast and lunch because the Anchor restaurant is not open at breakfast and lunch.

It has this salad. It has a lot of dill in it. And we were there on Saturday night, just feasting as usual. I'm like, gosh, I really love dill. Why don't I put dill in more stuff? And so lately, I'm just like taking half a package of dill and putting it in at anything I'm eating. And so today for lunch, we had leftover carnitas and chicken and steak fajita meat from a taco night last night for the volleyball team. Because the moms who hosted just had so much extra food, they're like, please take more food. And we took everything. No, we took three plates of food home. And so I was like, oh, this is great. I'm going to make a taco. I didn't have tortillas. I only had pitas. So then I made this like giant wrap, pita wrap thing, put a ton of tzatziki and dill on that. And I was just like, man, that's the secret. That's the secret. Like I just need to be putting a lot of dill on everything. And so I'm just celebrating that. That's making me very excited in life.

Doree Shafrir (3:08)

So funny because I think I feel about dill the way some people feel about cilantro.

Elise Hu (3:14)

Yes, you know how some people love it and some people hate it.

Doree Shafrir (3:16)

Yes, I don't like it.

Elise Hu (3:19)

Oh, you don't want the salad then. No.

Doree Shafrir (3:21)

The idea of putting like a sprig, like a whole bunch of dill in a salad or whatever is like, no, no thanks.

Elise Hu (3:31)

It's funny you bring up cilantro too because I brought home some of that taco meat last night and Luna loves the taco. And she's like, where's the cilantro? And I'm like, I didn't prepare that in the plate that I was taking home. She was like, I can't eat a taco without my cilantro and onions. She's like, we're going to have to stop by a street stand. You know how the taco tents all over have the giant tubs of cilantro and onion because we are so lucky to live in LA and we have all these taco tents.

And she's like, we're going to have to stop by. I was like, I don't think you can just roll up and steal their cilantro.

So funny. So yeah, I'm just like loving that. And then by the time this episode airs, I will hopefully have gotten to be at the US Open. So excited to be at the US Open slash Influencer Open of 2026 There's all this discourse right now that influencers who don't understand tennis are like holding up ring lights in the middle of, like right before a player serves or, you know, at inappropriate points. Oh, they did?
