My name is Nigel, Jason Hammer, right over there with this very special in-studio guest.

**Nigel** (0:08)
The best damn traffic reporter in all of Indianapolis, Matt Bair. You're doing like a polar plunge or something this weekend. What is it?

**Matt Bair** (0:19)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been doing cold plunges where you get into like a tub full of 40 or 50 degree water and you kind of sink into it. Supposed to like rejuvenate your muscles in your head.

**Jason Hammer** (0:31)
I thought you were doing it for charity or something.

**Nigel** (0:33)
Oh, no.

**Matt Bair** (0:33)
Yeah, no, no, no.

**Nigel** (0:34)
I'm just doing it because you're bored.

**Matt Bair** (0:35)
Massacred. No, because I hate myself.

**Jason Hammer** (0:39)
No, my wife has done it with our friends, Brian and Amanda. There's this place up at Karma where they go where they literally do it on purpose and pay for the privilege. Is that what you're doing? Or is it?

**Matt Bair** (0:49)
Yeah, I've been doing this for about five weeks now. Every Saturday, I go into this place. Do you get in naked?
No, it's with my boxer briefs on. If you must know. Hey, I want to tell everybody. But I get into this. You have two options, a 40-degree tub and a 50-degree tub as far as the water goes. And me, a couple of years stripped at my head.
First time, I'm like, I'm going into 40 degrees. I get right in.
And the pain, you think cold, but there is like real pain. You feel like your toes are going to fall off.

**Nigel** (1:21)
Just like when you get that cold, it's like, you know, being stabbed.

**Matt Bair** (1:24)
Oh, it's brutal. Yeah. That's what it felt like. And I get out of that tub. And, you know, the person, the managers try to help me out and be like, oh, no, just breathe, breathe. I'm like, breathe. I'm going to breathe outside the tub.
I'm not doing anything in the tub anymore. I'm dying in this thing. But it's good.

**Jason Hammer** (1:40)
Is there a difference between the 40 and 50?

**Matt Bair** (1:42)
Oh, yeah.

**Jason Hammer** (1:42)
Can you tell 40 and 50 degrees is? Yeah.

**Matt Bair** (1:46)
As far as shrinkage, there's a little bit.
Yeah. You want to make sure you give yourself 10 minutes before you start walking around downtown again. Just for that reason. Yeah, there's a huge difference. It's you sit in there and you go in and you have to tell yourself only good things are happening to me right now. You actually have to do that because for me, the pain was just excruciating, you know, but when you get out, what you do is you go in for a few minutes when you work yourself up. At first, you do like 40, 50 seconds, and then you get up to two minutes to five minutes. I'm up to like 15 now. And then you go into 50 degrees or 40 50, 50 I'm not touching a 40-degree tub.
Yeah. And then you go into an infrared sauna. And that's in the rotation between the two is just rejuvenating.

**Nigel** (2:33)
Are you the guy that says, boy, it's like a sauna in here. Are you that guy, Matt?

**Jason Hammer** (2:38)
Are you Kramer?

**Matt Bair** (2:41)
You know what it does? A booster libido. It really does. Yeah, I walk out of there. I'm like, whoo, let's go.

**Nigel** (2:49)
And that clapping sound wasn't his hands. That was something totally different.

**Matt Bair** (2:55)
Whatever they want to make it out to be, you know, but yeah, it's fun.

**Nigel** (2:58)
Do you find health benefits, though, like once you are completed, like you're at home and you're, you know, it's hours later. Do you feel better?

**Matt Bair** (3:06)
Yes. Yes.
It's not placebo. At first time, I was like, this has got to be placebo. It's in my head. I paid 30 bucks to do this. I'm telling myself it was good for me.
After repeated uses and doing it every week, there is your muscle, any muscle pains you have. It's just like they they vanish. They disappear. And until you work them again. And the same thing with Asana, you get the best sleep whenever you're done. Asana makes you sleep better. It helps you with your mental fitness. And then the cold just as like restores your bones and muscles. So you kind of get a two for one there. In the mean 30 bucks, that's a pretty good price. So, yeah, the benefits are there, especially as I continue to train and work on my mental health and everything. So that's my weekend.
