They need a will in order to give the ones around them the ability to take care of those things in their life without having a painstaking, difficult process through prorate. So the will makes it so much easier. And it's just a gift to the people that you love. And if you have children, if you have pets, you have a duty to have a will to make sure that they're taking care of and that their time of breathing is not going to be spent in fighting over who gets the kids.
It's being spent transitioning into a new part of life. And that's so important. And catholiclegacy.com makes it easier than anything you'll find online or anywhere else. It's just, you go online, you sign up, you answer some questions, and you have a will that you can sign. It's that simple.

Yeah, that was the voice of my next guest, one of my colleagues here at Relevant Radio, Preston Allex. He's president of Catholic Legacy. And this is really such a powerful, such a beautiful, such an important outreach at Relevant Radio. And, you know, I invited him to stop by because I was thinking about this. And I was praying about a week and a half ago, and I came across a message from Our Lady from one of her reported apparitions, and she said something that kind of haunted me in this message. She says, life is but a short walk.
And I thought, what a beautiful way to talk about it. I mean, eternity is such a long time, right? How many of you have taken strolls with your loved ones or just take a walk at night? You know, there's a short walk, and then there's the long walk. You know, a short walk is pretty simple. It goes by very quickly. It's, you're back home. That's what life is. Life, she says, is a short walk. It may feel long to us. It might feel like it's, you know, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 years. Some people may be even more than that. But we don't know the day or the hour. I was thinking about it today. There was that flight leaving Saudi Arabia to Israel that almost ended in catastrophe when hijackers, the co-pilots, stabbed the pilot, and the plane dropped 17,000 feet in about two minutes. People were screaming as the thing took a nosedive.
You get on that plane, you think you're fine. You're taking off, you're airborne. Okay, great, I'll be touching down before I know it. You never know the day or the hour. And you might plan things, like your vacation for months. You might have planned your retirement, your children's education, even what possessions you're gonna give after you're gone. But have you ever planned a funeral? We're gonna talk about that today. We'll talk about Catholic Legacy, there's wills, there's end of life directives. But this is another aspect. I don't think we think enough about the next life. There are things you don't particularly enjoy thinking about. I get it, right? Your own funeral's probably the top of that list. But just imagine for a moment you've died. The people you love are grieving. And I remember this. When my mother died, I had to go with my siblings and try to coordinate the funeral. It was a mess.
It's a very emotional moment. People aren't necessarily thinking clearly. Maybe it's your spouse, maybe it's your children, and they're left with this situation. Do you bury them? Do you cremate them?
Where do they have to be buried? Is there a plot already assigned? Do you want a funeral mass? What readings? What hymns? There's a lot that goes in there. What about a wake? Who should participate? Million questions. I'm joined right now by Preston, as I said, my colleague here. We'll take your calls too. I'd love to hear your stories and your situations. I'm going to open the phones, so you can get in at 888-914-9149.
Preston, great to have you here.
Preston Allex (3:49)
Thank you for having me here today. I love talking about this.
Drew Mariani (3:52)
You know, there's so much that goes on. I mean, life is a short walk. It's but a grain of sand on the beach of eternity.
Preston Allex (3:58)
That's right.
Drew Mariani (3:59)
It goes by very, very quickly. And most people don't think about their funeral. I don't, to be honest with you. I really don't, but there's so much that goes into it. And when some of your love goes, those things become very real.
