The Dr. Hyman Show

June 24, 2026

Most health issues don't appear overnight. Long before a diagnosis is made, the body often provides subtle clues that something needs closer attention. On this episode of The Dr. Hyman Show, I talk with double board-certified fertility physician Dr.
Speakers: Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Natalie Crawford

What if brain fog, anxiety and mood swings aren't simply all in your head? What if the health of your mind actually starts deeper in your body, in your gut, in your hormones, metabolism and your immune system? Well, let me tell you, the connection is real and it affects how you think and you feel every single day. And that's why I created Brainshaping Academy, a six week program that shows you how healing your body can help you heal your mind. Brainshaping Academy relies on the same target nutrition and lifestyle strategies that I've used for 30 years to help my patients improve their mental, emotional, and cognitive health. So if you want to feel calmer, clearer, and more in control, and stay sharp and protect your brain as you age, check out Brainshaping Academy at drhyman.com/brainshaping.

So if we take infertility not just as a disease or a problem, and we treat it also as a symptom, that it's a representation of your underlying health, that really allows people the opportunity to change their life.

**Dr. Mark Hyman** (1:00)
What you're saying really is important. Fertility and your reproductive health, those are not just relevant for people who are looking to have a baby. They are relevant for everybody because they speak to this early warning sign, like an early flashing warning sign in your body that something's off.

For young women, it is that first glimpse into your cellular health. If we can get women to start paying attention to this younger in their 20s and 30s, we're going to have a new generation of women.

If you've been dealing with anxiety, low energy or trouble focusing and still feel like you're missing something, you're not alone. That's why I created the Brainshaping Academy, a new program that looks in places most people never think to check, like nutrient deficiencies, the health of your gut, metabolism, your immune system, and lots more.
I know you've heard me talk about the importance of getting enough protein to maintain muscle as we age, but sometimes even when you eat well, meals can leave you feeling heavy, bloated, or sluggish. In some cases, it's not protein, it's your digestion, and our bodies rely on enzymes to break down protein and fats and carbohydrates, so we can actually use the nutrients we eat. Now, with stress, with age, or busy lifestyles, enzyme production can fall short, and that's why I recommend Maszymes from BIOptimizers. It contains 18 different digestive enzymes, including four times more protease than many other formulas to support the breakdown of protein, fat, and carbs. Supporting digestion can help turn meals into clean fuel, so you feel lighter, more energized, and more comfortable after eating without changing your diet. If your goals this year include eating well and feeling better after meals, well, Maszymes is a simple way to support healthy digestion. Every day our bodies face stress, inflammation, and the challenges of modern life. One of the simplest ways to support your health is with turmeric. It's a spice used for centuries in cooking and traditional medicine. The key compound in turmeric is called curcumin, a polyphenol that research shows supports the body against conditions like cancer, cardiovascular stress, and neurodegenerative diseases like dementia. It can also help with inflammation, metabolic balance, joint comfort, even mood. Most turmeric supplements contain only isolated curcumin, which isn't always well absorbed. Paleovalence Turmeric Complex is something different. It uses whole food turmeric with over 200 beneficial compounds, plus organic ginger, rosemary, and cloves. Gentle heat and black pepper improve absorption, so your body can actually use the curcumin. With thousands of studies supporting turmeric's role in immune function, joint comfort, and brain health, Paleovalence Turmeric Complex is an easy, natural way to support your overall wellness and every single day. What's interesting about your work in the fertility space is that you kind of reframe fertility and fertility issues in both men and women as sort of a biomarker of overall health.
You talk about it as a vital sign, the reproductive cycle as a vital sign, but you could also say sperm health is a vital sign. I think that most people don't think of it that way.
