Lindsay Clancy wrote a note on her phone, not a text to someone else, a note to herself. You ever do that? I do it all the time. I'm always writing notes to myself. And then the next day, I'm like, what? It's like an episode of Seinfeld, middle of the night. You're writing down your dream. This is hilarious. And you're like, why is that so funny? Kind of like that, but kind of not in that sort of way. A note to herself in the Notes app, created in November of 2022 and modified for the last time on January 23rd of 23 So it's kind of an ongoing note file, if you will. That was the night before she took the lives of her three children. And this is important because the Commonwealth wants you to believe that she was sitting there plotting and planning the demise of her children because she wanted to get out of being a mother and being in a marriage. And there was this whole other world that she was going to, but there's no evidence of there being a whole other world of her going to. And there was no other lover or life or anything that they're like, see, she was going to go do this. There's no evidence of that. We've seen that in many cases. This one doesn't have that element. As much as people want to keep saying it out loud like it's there, it's just not. It's not an element of this case. If it was, we would be talking about it. Trust me. And if there was evidence that she was plotting and planning to escape this life and not be mom because she had a lover on this side and she had this other world she was going to go to, we would be talking about it. We talk about it in so many cases where that does exist, but it doesn't here. I know, playing with facts and discussing reality doesn't rub everybody the right way. When it doesn't go against or when it goes against the narrative they so desperately want to believe and so desperately apply to this case. It's not that. There's cases again where that does exist. We're not the show that shies away from that shit. We're there to expose it when it's there. But when it's not, we're not going to make it up and pretend it is. I'm sorry. She wrote that she was sad and depressed because she couldn't parent Callan the way she parented Cora. She wanted to feel connected to him. She wanted to feel happy. She wanted a fourth child. What? How could she want a fourth child? She could hardly handle this right now. You know what?
Talk to a mom in the throes of this shit. And you're not always gonna get the best ideas in the world. You're not gonna get the best plans going forward in the world because it's a discombobulated way of thinking. It's distorted thinking where there's things that come to mind that are not going to solve your problem. They may think, I mean, this is not a crazy thought. It's not a healthy thought, but it's not a crazy thought. When things are messed up in relationships and parents are unhappy with children, when they're feeling like they're out of control in what is going on around them, a lot of times the answer that comes to people's mind, and it's not the right one, is let's have another kid. This is not new. This is not unique to Lindsay Clancy. She wrote that she was terrified of messing up her kids.
She modified that note one last time and put the phone down, and the next morning, the lives of all three of her children ended in Duxbury. So the mother that's, again, the Commonwealth wants to leave is plotting and planning to end the lives of her children and go off on some crazy new life. Again, there's no evidence of that at all.
Is wrestling, and it essentially is like a diary entry with feeling disconnected from her children, wanting to love more, and even thinking of maybe having another baby. That's not the word of somebody plotting and planning to destroy their family or self-annihilate their family. It just is not. State Police Forensic Analyst read those words to a jury in Plymouth Superior Court. The prosecution didn't dwell on them. They had a different piece of data from the same phone they wanted the jury to hear. Can you treat a sociopath? That's the other search. So this is her recognizing things are not firing correctly. Search January 20th, 2023, four days before the killings. And look, if you're feeling utterly mute, if you will, utterly disconnected from the people that you otherwise care about and you know that you should love and you do truly love, but you're not having that emotion there. And I hope to God, you never have to feel that. That's a weird fucking feeling to have.
