Why Gypsy Rose and Ken's Sister Both Say He Slept With a Gun

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary

October 14, 2026

Ken Urker's sister says he slept with a gun every night, and she says the fear came from the internet, not from Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Ken was found dead on October 1, 2026, his 34th birthday, after his employer and Gypsy's brother Dylan went to the Raceland home when he missed work.

There's a lot of questions about the Gypsy Rose situation, and rightfully so. I mean, even Gypsy has said out loud, my history, you know, it kind of, you know, it makes people raise an eyebrow too.

She's even aware of that. So I'm guessing she's probably not super shocked that people are questioning what's going on around her, but it's not about whether she's shocked or not. It's about what actually has happened with her ex, with her baby daddy, with whatever he was at the time, Ken Urker. He was found in his bed on his 34th birthday, and inside 24 hours, the story had three authors, the Sheriff's Report, Gypsy's Instagram, and the Internet that had been hunting him for two years, basically. The report says deputies found paraphernalia and a man who'd been dead for a while. When we talk about paraphernalia, we're talking about drug-type things around him. Gypsy says overdose and blames the cyber bullies for all of this. The comment section said she did it, something is off. And they said it before the body was cold. Toxology has not come back yet. And the question every one of you guys are asking is, is the one the sheriff won't answer yet. Did Ken Urker die of something he did to himself or something that was done to him? That's the big question that is out there. We're going to try and get to that today. You can drop your questions in the comment section as we do our listener Q&A today with me, Todd Michaels and Lisa Hale from our team here at Hidden Killers to have this conversation with you guys.

So who gets to use the word overdose? Was anybody surprised when immediately Gypsy says overdose on day one before the cops say it out loud? A lot of folks think, well, she's getting ahead of the game. Some may say she knew him well, and maybe that's where that comes from. What was your guys' read when that kind of dropped?

Lisa Hale (2:17)

Well, I will say this. When she immediately came out with overdose, I think she wanted to put herself into the story, front and center, and wanted to be the authority on the story, if you follow me.

She can't. She wasn't there at the time. So she can say overdose, but she can't prove that right now. We have to have the police reports in order to get that. However, I think she had to be, because of her, I don't want to say psychological upbringing, but because of how her psychological mind works, she has to be in the forefront of this. She has to be the center of attention.

Tony Brueski (2:58)

And is that just a desire for attention, or is that trying to control the story? Because that's what is being read kind of two different ways. I mean, it could be a combination of the two, but is it, I mean, is the lever of, I need to tell everybody this version for some other reason, or is it, I need to tell everybody this version because I'm the star of this damn show, and if it surrounds me, I better be front and center?

Todd Michaels (3:24)

I think it's, I actually think it's a combination of both, Tony. And I also think it reminds me a lot of the 911 calls we hear often in some of these cases where people are trying to put information out there to clear their name.

You know, we just had it happen in, what's the one that we're covering right now? Where the Caleb Flynn story, right? He calls 911, and instead of just giving details about something happened to his wife, his wife, his dad, blah, blah, blah, he's going off giving a timeline of everything he's done in the past 24 hours to kind of cover his ass.

Lisa Hale (3:58)

Yeah.

Todd Michaels (3:58)

So to me, knowing that she did this, it was a combination of both, A, being in the spotlight, which we know she loves, and B, also kind of covering her ass in some way, shape or form.

Lisa Hale (4:09)

Two things can be true at the same time.

Tony Brueski (4:11)

But is she covering her ass? And pure speculation, she's not been accused of anything. We're not accusing her of anything. We're not saying she did anything to him. I just want to be clear about that. All pure speculation and conjecture here. Is she covering her ass because, I mean, she's not an idiot. I mean, if you watch some of her stuff, I mean, she's calculating. I mean, she is, she knows to a certain extent what the hell is going on around her. There may be elements of life where she's not the brightest, but when it comes to manipulating people around her, she's golden. I mean, this is, she can write the master class on that.
