Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Snark Bait. I'm Christy.
Sophie Ross Brooks (1:22)
I'm Sophie.
Christy Noel (1:23)
And today, well, we got a lot to cover.
Sophie Ross Brooks (1:27)
Christy, your toes. Christy has a new set up if you're watching on YouTube.
Christy Noel (1:32)
Yeah.
Sophie Ross Brooks (1:33)
And she looks so cute. Her dogs are out. And I told her, now that I've encountered like foot fetish Instagram, maybe like be a little careful with showing the feet. And she was like, yeah, but maybe if we can make more money, we'd get more views.
Christy Noel (1:52)
You know, I'm always trying to get that bag. You know what I mean? Like, hey, a follow is a follow. You know, I told Sophie to increase the dollar amount, 250 minimum.
Sophie Ross Brooks (2:03)
For the feet pics.
Christy Noel (2:04)
Yeah, exactly.
Sophie Ross Brooks (2:06)
Yeah, but it's so cute. I love the new set up. Everyone, if you're watching on YouTube, check it out.
Christy Noel (2:12)
Check it out on YouTube.
Sophie Ross Brooks (2:13)
If you are watching on YouTube, you're already checking it out. But if you're not, check it out maybe. Yeah, on YouTube.
Christy Noel (2:18)
youtube.com/atsnarkbaitpod. But my goodness, do we have a lot to cover.
My favorite murder, I feel like is one of the most, the biggest cultural phenomena in terms of podcasting that we had in 2016 I was definitely a murderino when this show came out. I'm curious, Sophie, because you and I are both huge true crime. I don't want to say connoisseur because that sounds insensitive. We consume a lot of true crime, and that's always been an interest of yours and mine since we've been young.
Sophie Ross Brooks (2:52)
Since we've met, yeah.
Christy Noel (2:54)
Genuinely. I know that you and I have had hyperfixation on certain cases that neither of us even knew was a hyperfixation of one another. Then we're like, wait, you follow that case too? So do I.
We've just had a really, really long journey with true crime and we often cover true crime on our Patreon, patreon.com/snarkbaitpod. But I'm curious, Sophie, have you ever listened to MFM or what is your history with true crime podcasts?
Sophie Ross Brooks (3:18)
Yeah. It's so funny because you mentioned 2016 This was the early days of podcasting. There weren't that many options. I remember obviously Serial was so many of our first podcasts and introduction to podcasts. I remember that was the first time I was like, wait, it's just free on this podcast app? That's crazy. I was obsessed along with the entire world. That was like 2015
Yeah, I remember listening to My Favorite Murder on my commutes to work, and I wouldn't call myself a murderino.
I remember at the time being like, it's weird that it's called My Favorite Murder. The name of the podcast is weird. I remember thinking that at the time, and then obviously there was a proliferation of true crime podcasts that I ended up enjoying more, and I kind of just stopped listening, and I didn't even listen for that long. I would say maybe like, you know, a year, like 2016
Christy Noel (4:17)
Yeah. Okay, I had no idea that you have, at one point in your life, listened, because I feel like anyone that listened to podcasts that was into true crime, at one point did stream My Favorite Murder, because to your point, this podcast launched in January of 2016, and I believe Serial came out just the year prior, so this was just when podcasting had become super like, we had never even knew, had known what that was. It was like we knew radio, but we didn't know podcasting. But I was obsessed. And I'm so, that's so funny, you always talk about how you're never wrong, you're just early.
