Hey, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of Snark Bait. I'm Christy and we are joined by a very special guest, Rachel, our social manager. Rachel, how's it going?

Rachel (1:40)

Great. It is a beautiful Thursday morning when we're recording this, and I am really excited. I think it's just been a great week with all of the Taylor News, who has been radio silent from Toy Story 5 up until literally an hour after we recorded this episode that follows this intro.

Christy (2:00)

Yeah, exactly.

Rachel (2:01)

So how to word this.

Christy (2:02)

Yeah. So basically, you guys, Rachel and I recorded nearly a two-hour episode on the Matty Healy and Taylor Swift floor, which you guys can see in the episode description, the episode title. But of course, and we recorded on Tuesday, September 22nd or Monday.

Very early. Essentially, the moment after we stopped recording, Taylor comes out with Patient Zero single and then Encore of The Life of a Showgirl where she's releasing four new songs, which I believe Patient Zero was a part of those four songs, right?

Rachel (2:34)

Yeah, it is.

Christy (2:35)

Right. So me and Taylor, I mean, me and Rachel were very bummed because we thought we were going to get five net new songs, but it sounds like it's four net new songs, but we will take what we can get.

But because we recorded the episode before all that news released on Tuesday afternoon, we were like, okay, we need to record an addendum to the original episode because there's way too much news and Rachel and I were speculating a lot on that episode as to what Taylor was teasing. And then of course we find out after we stopped recording. So this is the addendum that you guys are listening to. You'll hear Rachel and I reintroduce ourselves in probably 20 or so minutes when we finish this addendum. But we wanted to cover the most topical news as it stands on Thursday, September 24th at 8 a.m. Pacific. So before we dive in, Rachel, how are you feeling with all this Taylor news? Where were you when you received the news that one, Patient Zero was releasing and two, she was releasing an Encore album?

Well, first of all, I feel so silly for everything you're about to hear in 20 minutes because I was really thinking it was going to be debut Taylor's version. Like I really felt, and this is obviously before Patient Zero's news was released, I thought that that's where we were headed because of the 20-year anniversary. The debut came out in 2006, I think October. So my mind just immediately went to that being what is the next album is rather than-

Is it a lot of people?

An add-on to The Life of a Showgirl or TS13, an entirely different era. Those two things were not in my mind.

I was working from home on Tuesday, we had finished recording, and that's when I started seeing all of the announcements of like, there's a countdown on her website. I'm like, great.

And I try not to let myself get too excited about that stuff because, and I see this criticism and I kind of agree with it, like she does shell out like a lot of versions and a lot of merch and a lot of things and sometimes that might be what the countdown is for. So I didn't let myself get too excited. But then I was obviously thrilled when I saw that Patient Zero, which the aesthetic of it, I love. I love the like sterile asylum. I really feel like it's like, she's, you know, Patient Zero, she's like in an asylum type vibe and everything's gray and cold. And I was really into that. And it felt kind of like a callback to TTPD, Fortnite vibes. But now I'm really confused because she's, it's the encore and that's part of the encore, which is a continuation of The Life of a Showgirl. But obviously through the lens of it's after The Life of a Showgirl came out. So maybe it's like a reaction to the mixed reviews. Who knows? I'm excited to hear what you think, but I'm confused.
