What Nolan Wells' Grand Jury Said About His Friends

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary

September 23, 2026

The Nolan Wells no true bill came with a detail buried in the district attorney's video statement: the family's own lawyers had already told her they had no evidence a crime was committed. Tony Brueski walks through what the grand jury found instead. Nolan chose to stay on Horn Island.

Twenty-three people from JacksonCounty, Mississippi, sat in a room for five days in September and looked at everything in the Nolan Wells case. And surprise, surprise, they didn't find evidence of Nolan Wells' very close friends who loved him, who he loved as well. They weren't secretly part of some sort of a racist clan that went out onto a boat on the 4th of July and threw him overboard and let him drown and whatever bullshit narrative BenCrump and AlSharpton want you to passive aggressively believe took place. Oh wait, we didn't say that. Isn't that cute? They went through GPS logs from three boats, camera footage, phone extractions and two autopsies. The family's autopsy and the one that was done by the state. They issued 132 subpoenas. They heard from 43 witnesses. This is a grand jury that crossed their tees and dotted their eyes. They wanted to make sure that there was nothing suspicious going on. And thank God they did because, yes, Mississippi has a bit of a history, to put it lightly. But when they did the due diligence, they came back with the truth, with an answer. They voted and the vote was unanimous. No charges and no evidence that anyone did anything to Nolan Wells.

I, for one, am happy about this. I don't know why one would not be happy about that coming back. And it's not a, well, I've been predicting that nothing was going to happen the whole time, so I'm right sort of happiness at all. It's more of a good. It does appear that the narrative and the story and the evidence, the mountains of evidence that exist of the history of Nolan Wells and his relationship with his friends was true. They loved him. He loved them. They didn't see things in terms of race. They saw each other as brothers. You know who didn't? Crump, Sharpton. People came in after all of this and wanted to profit off of the death of Nolan Wells and basically take the identity of this outstanding young man who had so much going on. He was excelling at school, excelling at life.

His promise, his future was great.

And people who claim to be warriors for justice reduced Nolan Wells' life down basically to a racial meme. And you know who stood next to them and cheered it on? His parents. Yeah, I'm looking at you guys, too. His parents, going to conventions, going on stages, speaking about the injustice to your son that didn't fucking exist.

Why? Why would you shit all over the name and the legacy of your son and reduce him down into a racially motivated hate crime that never took place? You must be so proud of yourselves.

Nolan was someone who was moving beyond that bullshit. Well, the rest of the world still likes to dig its heels in and pretend that everybody has some sort of angst and hate against another person because of the color of their skin. And I get it. Mississippi has a history without a doubt, and it needed to be investigated and it needed to be looked at. But that's what you do. You go through the process. You look, you investigate, you get answers before you open your fucking fat mouth and start accusing people who loved him of taking his life.

These kids are going through trauma, too. Their best friend mysteriously died when they had thought he went to go chase a girl. Things had happened with a lot of kids that age. Everybody's wondering what the hell is going on. And then the fingers start pointing at these innocent kids. And they start getting death threats. And their lives are irrevocably upended. Because of what? Because you weren't patient enough to find out what the truth was? You just couldn't wait to get to that microphone and scream racist?

Maybe take a fucking breath. Because, you know what, there's plenty of racists out there. There's plenty of horrible people to point a finger at and go after. How about you be a little more choosy? How about you actually go after real racists? And real people who do that sort of shit? Not the people whose entire documented history with the young man is anything but that. We're not going to hear any apology from them. They're going to slowly drift off into the ether. And the parents of Nolan Wells are going to be left with the aftermath. A bunch of people who once loved their son, a bunch of families who would have gathered around them, helped them grieve, helped them navigate a tragic death of their son because their children loved them too and loved Nolan too. They're going to go back to their world after the conventions, after the stage appearances with AlSharpton and Crump, and go back to the real world. And they're going to be in for a big fucking shock. They've alienated all of the people who loved them and their son by getting behind the mob that wanted to call them racist murderers. Well, have fun with all that. You really kind of chose this path for yourself on your Choose Your Own Adventure book from hell, which I get is probably the worst damn thing in the world. Your son's dead. And you chose to remember him by turning him into some sort of a racial trope.
