Bitcoin ripped $20,000 in a week, despite Michael Saylor not buying Bitcoin for 10 weeks. But all of that has now changed. And now that he is finally buying again, will this add fuel to the fire and force Bitcoin to explode higher? Only about two months ago, everybody was saying that strategy and stretch were going to collapse, but has that now all finally change? And if you're looking at the price tickers here, strategy and stretch are in a pretty good position. I will get to that later. We're not gonna do any chart-boying, but anyways, let's get into the news for today, guys. So I've been covering along on this story for you guys for a while.
It's been super interesting watching what Saylor's been doing. Obviously, we've laid out, I think actually he's laid out the reasoning behind all of this for the last, I don't know, he's been projecting what he's gonna do. Obviously, increase their credit rating and try to get into the S&P 500 That's basically everything he's doing. But this morning's news and the moves we've seen are actually really interesting if you are an MSTR holder. And further, if you're a Bitcoin bear, or sorry, a strategy bear, you might want to reconsider at this point. So here's the news, obviously, short of it, Saylor bought some Bitcoin. Strategy acquired 4,603 Bitcoin for $370 million, increased its USD cash by $29 million, and repurchased $152 million of stretch. As of 8.30, so yesterday, they hold 845,050 Bitcoin. Again, 845,050 Bitcoin and $6.71 billion of USD assets, bringing net leverage to zero. That's probably the most interesting aspect of this move. Not only did Saylor buy Bitcoin, but now they basically have zero leverage. Obviously, it's net leverage. They do have some debt on the books, but they're at zero. And in terms of the whole, what were we calling it? Strategy Death Spiral. It looks as if Saylor pulled another hat, another rabbit out of the hat.
It reminds me of that one meme where everyone's like, Saylor won't be able to get out of this one. And Saylor somehow squirms his way out of another pickle. That's where we are. So look, I think at this point, I wouldn't be betting against Saylor at all. Yes, you know, we're a media company. We're hardcore Bitcoiners, spot Bitcoiners, Bitcoin treasury companies were the hype cycle last year. But like, look, even if you're not a fan of treasury companies, I don't think you can bet against Saylor. He's going to figure it out one way or another. So here is the 8K filing. And this is where the details get a little interesting. So obviously you're probably wondering how was Saylor able to buy more Bitcoin? Well, it looks like he sold about $4.5 million of the MSTR common stock. So if you are an MSTR common stock holder, short of it, you're getting diluted again. But hey, maybe you're not that upset about it. But one interesting thing before I move on, I was looking over at the strategy dashboard and I was trying to find the Bitcoin per share, but it's not on the front page anymore. Now it's here under this tab. So net Bitcoin per share, 154,000 Sats. The BTC per share, 187,000 Sats and some change. What I do find interesting about this, and I have to kind of remember, but not too long ago, it was about what, 240,000 Sats per share. So in fact, this year, there is some dilution happening. The Bitcoin per share is going down, and maybe there's some signal there because it's not on the front page anymore. But again, I think trying to think through the strategy strategy.
I think in the short term, if you had bought MSTR, I don't know, this year, maybe you're feeling the pain, but if you are thinking about this in a long term, maybe like a four year cycle, four, six years out, instead of just a six month or one year mindset, you're probably not going to be too mad about it. If your goal is Bitcoin per share, though, what we have seen is Saylor did kind of change his tune recently.
For a while there, it was this idea that strategy's main goal is to increase Bitcoin per share of the MSTR stockholder or common stockholder. In the last couple of weeks, it has kind of switched from the only thing we care about is Bitcoin per share to strengthening the stretch digital credit meme. So there is a change in narrative, and you can literally track this just based on the words that Saylor's been saying, based on what the strategy press releases are saying, based on what the quarterly calls are saying. There has been a move away from the only metric that matters is Bitcoin per share to, hey, digital credit. Now, if you are a strategy bull, maybe you don't really care, because you probably think that if stretch does well, MSTR will also do well. But if you are a Bitcoin treasury holder, just simply on the idea that you want exposure to Bitcoin, that is kind of throwing a wrench in that perspective. So going back over here, as you can see, the filing says they bought $369 million Bitcoin for $4,603. What is super interesting here though? And actually, wait, I know I don't do memes much here guys anymore, but this meme is actually pretty funny. So I'm gonna bring it up. Thanks for the sacrifice, Saylor. This was in August 20th. Saylor just selling the absolute bottom, sold about 6,948 Bitcoin. Or actually, depending on the metric, I see 6,916. This meme says 6,948.
