Okay, so from their teenage years onwards, most men get used to fluid shooting out of their genitals on a regular basis. But female ejaculation is a thing too, and it's known colloquially as squirting. Most often it's when a woman expels fluid from the vulva either before or during an orgasm. It's generally seen as a pleasurable sensation, even when it doesn't happen at the same time as a climax. The terms squirting and female ejaculation are commonly used interchangeably, but some researchers have suggested they are two distinct phenomena.
Wait a minute, so squirting actually exists outside the world of porn? It does indeed, although it's admittedly less common than male ejaculation, at least for most women. Studies on the subject have shown varying rates of prevalence. For example, a 2017 study from the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that only 7 out of 300 participants reported female ejaculation. But another study published the same year, in the same journal, found a prevalence rate of nearly 70%.
Go figure. Some researchers believe all women can squirt, whereas others disagree. In any case, the evidence suggests it's not a given that it will happen to every woman. What is this mysterious fluid that comes out, then? That seems to depend on whether we're talking about squirting or female ejaculation in particular. In the case of squirting, the liquid is usually clear and watery, with a volume of up to 10 tablespoons, according to verywellhealth.com. It's thought to come from the bladder, and contain some components of urine, like urea and creatinine. Meanwhile, with female ejaculation, it's a much smaller amount of viscous and whitish liquid. Kind of similar to male ejaculate, without the sperm, obviously. What are the secrets to making a woman squirt? Most people seem to agree that G-spot stimulation is key to squirting. Using the fingers with a cum hither motion, and sometimes combined with glitoral stimulation. The bad news for partners is it may be more difficult to achieve squirting without the help of a sex toy.
