You can just go to theprofitableproducer.com right now. We've launched it back in August, the Beta program. We launched the full course in December and January, and we've had a lot of amazing stories come from that. We've had a lot of students go through it so far, and we've had some cool stories come from it. We've had people that have quit their job within a couple months of joining the course. We've had people that have increased their studio's income by 800%. We've had large commercial studios that have completely reversed their client lists from corporate bullshit boring work to doing all studio artist related work, which is what they wanted to do in the first place. So if you want to learn more about this, you want to see some of the success stories, you want to see some interviews I've done with my students, you can learn more about this course by going to theprofitableproducer.com. Don't forget the T-H-E at the beginning, theprofitableproducer.com.
So with that being said, let's go into my conversation with Chris Graham.
Chris Graham, how are you doing today? And more importantly, how are your bees doing?
Chris Graham (1:29)
I'm doing great. Bees are not so great. I have not prepared for the bee season yet. I need to bait my traps so I can catch some swarms.
Brian Hood (1:39)
Okay, so first of all, anyone who doesn't know this, Chris Graham keeps bees, which is the strangest yet most interesting thing I've learned about Chris since knowing him.
And apparently you bait them to come live in your backyard. There has to be a better word than bait for that. That sounds like the old bait and switch.
Chris Graham (1:55)
It's the official term. You put a lemongrass oil in a box of a specific size with a specific size hole in it. And lo and behold, one day some bees find it. They go back to their swarm, which is a giant ball of bees hanging from a tree that have recently moved out of a hive.
And a bunch of bees find a bunch of places to potentially live. And then they believe it or not, they vote on where they want to live.
Brian Hood (2:19)
How do they vote for this? Do they like do little circle dances and shit?
Chris Graham (2:22)
They do a little circle dance. They say, hey, basically the circle dance says, hey, there's a good spot over this way.
And then other bees go check it out. And then they come back. And when they're all doing the same dance, all the bees fly away.
Brian Hood (2:33)
That's amazing. So what can you do to make your place a better spot to bring up the value of the neighborhood per se for bees?
Chris Graham (2:39)
Well, it's lemongrass oil is the big tool there. You sent the box with lemongrass oil and they think it smells like a queen.
And so they say that gets their attention, they check it out, and it's really rad to watch like 10 or 15,000 bees fly into your yard and then crawl into a small hole. It's pretty wild.
Brian Hood (2:58)
Okay, well, that's it for our episode of the 6 Figure Studio podcast, where we talk about bees.
Chris Graham (3:03)
Now, if you want to differentiate yourself from the other losers that have recording studios, you gotta have beehives.
Brian Hood (3:10)
Okay, no, enough of this crap. Today's episode, which is not about bees, as you might have been confused there if this is your first time listening, my apologies.
Today's episode is about what? What is today's episode about, Chris?
Chris Graham (3:22)
Well, it's based on an interesting question.
And that question is for all our listeners, but right now, from me to Brian Hood, Brian, if you had to go into the Witness Protection Program for some reason, and they moved you somewhere else, and you had to start your career again from scratch, and let's assume you had facial reconstructive surgery, the whole face-off movie from the 90s thing, you've got a new face, same skills, same knowledge, same wisdom, new place, you need to start an audio business from scratch.
What are you gonna do?
Brian Hood (3:58)
This is a very interesting question. I think it's something that appeals to a lot of people because most people, most listeners, in any given audience, 95% of the people on a business-related podcast are gonna be at the point where they're at the beginning of their career or they haven't even really started their career. So I think this is a good episode topic to discuss what would Chris and I do, what would either of us do, because we both have different approaches and different opinions on this subject. What would we do if we were starting over from scratch with none of the same connections, but we have the same knowledge? And I think it's a very important discussion to be had because it makes us think about how we would approach something in today's age, in 2018, if we were starting from scratch.
