93WIPC. Oh, man. Tell me about this guy, Representative JD. Prescott. But before you do that, though, I just want to let everybody know, we're going to talk about property taxes. Finally, your dreams have come true, chat.
Like the past five times, you've had the governor in. But why do you guys ask about property taxes? Trust me, we've asked him plenty of times.

OK. And now we have a story about property taxes. It's a pretty big one, actually.

It is. But you're so right. Even during times where the governor has not been in studio with us, like we'll be covering another big story and we'll always have some jag on the YouTube chat.
Why aren't you talking about property taxes? Because we're talking about a school shooting right now, because we're talking about a terrorist attack.

How come you haven't said anything about property taxes? Well, how come you haven't took a hot fork up your radius? Like, I get it.
Some of you want it to be all property tax all the time. And when you get your own radio show that's been number one for nine straight years on a flamethrower station, you can do that. Knock yourselves out. But trust us, when the time is right, we'll talk about property taxes. And that time is right now. Oh, that sounds like something Kamala Harris would say.

So JD. Prescott, Union City Rep, he put a website out not that long ago because he wants to reintroduce into the next legislative session a plan to eliminate property taxes in favor of a 7% tax on services like haircuts, landscaping, those types of services.

Manscaping?

Landscaping.

Oh, OK.

Maybe landscaping.

I could do the manscaping on my own, but landscaping. So 7% tax on services. That's going to do it?

The thinking behind that is that if you've got the disposable income to be doing those types of things, you could probably pay the taxes on it more so than somebody that's living in poverty at a location. But because they just happen to live there, they get screwed over on property taxes.
And then you could make the argument, some would, that property taxes as a whole, where you're getting taxed on unrealized gains, is not constitutional. Now, I'm no lawyer. I don't even play one on TV. I'll let the other folks figure that out. But JD. Prescott, trying to roll this out again.

At least somebody has an idea, right? That's what all we're asking for. Well, what's your idea then? Is usually what people will come back to us and say.

And when you simply tell them, make cuts, local schools, local communities, make cuts like any family would have to do and have done over the last eight to ten years. Like any household, when money gets tight, you got to find some things to cut. Like, why should local government and schools be any different? I'm telling you, like, I think one out of three schools is going to try to throw a referendum down your throat between now and sometime in the next two years. It's going to be a referendum palooza happening in a community near you.
But I promise you, Nigel, if you had somebody qualified, look at the line item. You know, every employee, their salary, what you're spending money on, what the money's going to, you could probably find some savings to where you didn't have to have a referendum.

And then also the idea, even if you paid off your mortgage, the fact that the government eventually could come in and take that away from you because you're not paying your property taxes or you don't have enough money to pay those taxes, even though you've paid off the mortgage, is very disturbing to me. Now, I realize it's a long, drawn out process. It's not like they could just come in with a snap of a finger and snatch your property. I understand that, okay? But the very simple fact that you pay off your mortgage and you're not planning on selling your house and your assessments keep on going up and up and up and up, therefore, the property taxes keep going up and up and up, seems a little absurd to me.

And when you make the point about, all right, let's see where else we can make some cuts in local government.
