I have a fear when I travel of crapping my pants.

Penn Holderness (0:03)

You are literally a machine. Afterwards, the machine went...

Kim Holderness (0:08)

A lot of children who came to these bookstore events told us how much they love our podcast. Bless you, because we talk a lot about estrogen on this podcast.

Penn Holderness (0:17)

And a little girl raised her hand at the very, very end. And she said, I really like those ADHD songs because I have ADHD. That girl was all I needed. My heart was full after that.

Kim Holderness (0:42)

Hey, I'm Kim Holderness.

Penn Holderness (0:43)

And I'm Penn Holderness, and welcome to Laugh Lines.

Kim Holderness (0:45)

If you felt like working from bed today, which for me is every day, you found the right place.

Penn Holderness (0:51)

I mean, we're taking this really literally. For those of you who are watching us on YouTube, Kim and I have taken to the bed. This is, if you're not watching us on YouTube, I just want you to imagine the two of us are doing this entire podcast lying in bed.

Kim Holderness (1:05)

We sort of joked, and I think Sam said it, I was thinking at the same time, like when we get back, we have to record a podcast. Let's do it from bed. We're so tired. Let's do it from bed.

We just got back. We were on the road for 11 days touring for a new children's book, get it done and have fun. ADHD Hacks for Awesome Kids. And we got back last night and my mom and stepdad, shout out Peggy and Scott for staying with PC for that long.

Penn Holderness (1:31)

And Sunny.

Kim Holderness (1:32)

And Sunny.

And they, my mom's like, Oh, you guys get to sleep in your own bed tonight. And I looked at him, I was like, yeah, well, I get to sleep in my own bed. You're going to the guest room because we slept in the same bed for 11 nights together.

Penn Holderness (1:45)

Yeah.

Kim Holderness (1:45)

That's actually a lot. 11 8th Street is a lot of us sleep in yonder.

Penn Holderness (1:49)

There seems to always be one snuck in there where one of us can't sleep or one of us is making noise or whatever. And the other one sneaks into here.

Kim Holderness (1:57)

Yes.

Penn Holderness (1:58)

Which that happened last night.

Kim Holderness (1:59)

I have to say, we do a really good job not taking it personally when we say, I'm excited, I'm not going to sleep with you tonight.

Penn Holderness (2:08)

Yeah, I think we worked this out like long ago, pre-COVID, we worked this out. I think one of our first, like maybe first season podcasts was called, Should We Sleep In Separate Beds? And we get so many comments from people who just like they just have made it part of their lives. Like there's one bedroom and there's another bedroom and sometimes there's separate bathrooms. They still live in the same house. They're still married. They still love each other. You can still do all the things that you like doing in the bed while you're awake. And then just go to wherever it is that you want to go.

Kim Holderness (2:39)

Truly. And so that's why I actually redecorated this room.

Penn Holderness (2:42)

For you.

Kim Holderness (2:43)

For me.

Penn Holderness (2:43)

And then you never come in here.

Kim Holderness (2:44)

I've never, I've actually never slept in.

Penn Holderness (2:46)

You always send me here.

Kim Holderness (2:48)

Because I'm in the bed first.

Penn Holderness (2:50)

No, you weren't in the bed first last night.

Ann Marie Taepke (2:52)

I super was. Okay, maybe last night you were.

Kim Holderness (2:54)

I super was.

Penn Holderness (2:55)

Okay, so all I have to do is get in the bed first?

Kim Holderness (2:58)

Kind of, you have to claim it.

Penn Holderness (2:59)

All right, so the tour. We're going to talk about this a ton.

We were promoting our book, Get It Done and Have Fun, tons of fun. The tour was fun. We met amazing people, but we went from Raleigh to Minneapolis to Detroit, and then we went to New Jersey, and then we went to New York City, and then we went to Boston, and then we went to Cape Cod, which was not a book tour. That was just you and me going to a conference thing, and then we went to Houston, and then yesterday we got back, and this was all in the span of nine or 10 days. So almost every day we were in an airport. Felt a little bit like the Amazing Race.
