Today is September 30th.

All right, big news from the New York Rangers. Defenseman Vincent Iorio has cleared waivers and will be returning to the franchise after some moves to get the roster set for the new season. Initially, the Rangers placed Iorio on injured reserve, which looked like a way to clear space. Then they switched things up and waved him instead. Good news for the team though, he's not going anywhere. So, Iorio is heading back to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, and the squad's coming together nicely. He's joining a defense that includes players like Mark DelGaizo and Uho Vakkanainen, who also cleared waivers recently. Definitely a solid group to work with.

Iorio's had a pretty winding journey in the league since being drafted by the Washington Capitals back in 2021 He's seen time with both the Sharks and Rangers last season, and though he's got just 4 points in the NHL, he's been a standout in the AHL.

Last season alone, he racked up 7 assists in just 6 games at the San Jose Barracuda. Overall, looks like the Rangers are setting themselves up for a competitive season. Iorio's experience in the AHL could be a real asset as the Wolf Pack gears up for their campaign. That's your update from New York Rangers News Today, powered by AI.
