Veda Partner's Henrietta Treyz Talks Control of Hormuz

Henrietta Treyz has never been to a company. She joins us right now, co-founder of Veda Partners. Okay, Henrietta, I got a really important thing going on.
Middle of the road Democrats are dropping like flies. McMorrow, Michigan, out. Where are we gonna be with this progressive new left, far left shift? The president calls them communists. Where are we gonna be, say, August 1st?

You know, I think that's a very fair question. There's a lot of attention on Colorado and Mom Donnie in New York and the more progressive wing of the Democratic Party, but I'd also point out that the really important members, the senators, for example, in the race, the cycle are moderate Democrats. And they're your really traditional white male, even older demographic. I'm thinking Roy Cooper in Carolina.
It's not entirely correct to say that this is a progressive wave. It's really more of a youth wave, in my opinion.

So do we have a definitive message from the Democratic Party as they think about the midterms, given that President Trump's ratings are lower than I'm sure most Republicans would like? Is there a Democratic playbook out there?

**Henrietta Treyz** (1:14)
The playbook is affordability. If you can't start with affordability and have a conversation that stems from that, they're not allowing you to have the conversation. So if you want to talk about crypto or the president's exposure to that industry, you must first come up with a talking point like, you know, the president has made $1.2 billion in part off of his crypto adventures, but you know, 98% or something like that of the investors in Trump coin have lost money on that deal. So you have to start with an affordability lens and move anything out into the ether. I think what's really interesting is that that crowds out a lot of other discussions.
AI regulation, for example, is just not prime time for that. You're not talking affordability. You're off message and the party wants you to stay on it.

And so I guess what we all learned over the last week or so is that President Trump has made and his family have made quite a lot of money in the past year through a variety of their businesses and investments, including crypto. Is that not a political talking point for the Democrats or are they just going to leave that alone?

**Henrietta Treyz** (2:17)
No, it definitely is. And you're right to point it out. That's second on the list. So there's affordability and then what's the word they use? It's not corruption, but it's more like graft and what the administration and specifically the Trump family is doing to profit off of the stock trades that the president does or his crypto ventures or Melania's meme coins, things along those lines, as they're definitely salient voters. And so they bring that up and they'll bring that up in Colorado and they'll talk about it. Awesome seat in Georgia.

Oh yeah, sure.

It'd be something. Henrietta, who's raising money?
Is the far left Mr. Trump's communists? Are they raising money?

**Henrietta Treyz** (2:57)
They are raising money, but I would point out something that I think is really shocking. So the president declared several months ago, maybe even a year ago now, that he was going to have a midterm convention, very unorthodox, but huge fundraiser, right? So they set it for early September. Democrats don't have enough money to throw one of their own.
So the Republican war chest, $350 million that Trump has to deploy across the nation, he hasn't doled out a lot of it yet, but it's definitely there, makes the Democrats look like they have nothing. So yes, there is fundraising, but really it's a turnout, and the progressive voters are turning out, they want change.
