Welcome to the Total Soccer Show and our review of the USMNT 4, Chile 2 in St Louis. Another 4-goal win for Amitio Pochettino's Young Guns. In this window, we're gonna break down the game, the key performances, and so much more. Do stick around with us. My name's Ryan Bailey. Joining me today for a little chat about the American national team. Taylor Rockwell, Fancy Seed New here, hello.

Taylor Rockwell (0:44)

Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight. That was a fun way to end the game, man. I spent a lot of time, as much time as I spent rewatching some of the goals and some of the better moments, rewatching that scrum to figure out exactly what happened and exactly how many instigators there were. The answer is several.

Ryan Bailey (1:00)

Yeah. We can't even call it a 22-man brawl. The numbers were north of that. Mauricio Pochettino got to go on the field as well.

As much as I do like that kind of thing happening, Taylor, it feels like there's a lack of dignity when it's in a friendly. Is that just me? Am I being old-fashioned?

Taylor Rockwell (1:18)

I hear you. I think generally I agree with that. I think the fact that it starts with a player sort of like poking, slash maybe stepping on the US goalkeeper, and like Schrocki I think doesn't respond, but you want his teammates to respond for him, and he does, and Chris Richards, chief among them, does. Then I think it's Chile trying to get some US players sent off.

There's three moments that I spotted where players come in and are trying to keep the piece, but are actually like kneeing somebody in the back or shoving somebody. Richards gets slapped like three times in the face by Paulo Diaz, and nobody catches that one. So in a way, I think it's good that the US players defended their goalkeeper, but then also good that, I don't know, if somebody hit me in the face three times, I don't know if I would be able to keep my cool, as well as Chris Richards did. Still got the yellow, still got pretty angry, but didn't throw hands. And I think that's what Chile were trying to do, is get players sent off and just get a little bit of retribution, and they weren't successful in the end.

Ryan Bailey (2:11)

Well, they found his face three times, so they couldn't find him at all on that corner. So at least they found him at some point in this game. Joe Larry's also here.

Taylor Rockwell (2:19)

It's controversial.

Ryan Bailey (2:20)

Hi, Joe. How are you?

Joseph Lowery (2:21)

Hey, I'm good, guys. I would never slap any of you in the face, at least not three times. I mean, there's no way I'd make it to three. Come on.

Ryan Bailey (2:28)

What's your max? Two?

Joseph Lowery (2:30)

I think my max is two, and unfortunately, I fear that I could not outrun either one of you. So at a certain point, I'm going to have to cower behind something and then it's just going to get really awkward for everybody.

Ryan Bailey (2:40)

Okay. Let's not put this into practice at any point, I would suggest, gentlemen. We are friendly just like this game was indeed. Paltrio here this evening. We are streaming live on our YouTube channel, Taylor. So smile for the people. We have comments coming in. If you are watching us live after this game, hello. And if you're listening in perpetuity on our feed, hello also.

Who hangs out there, Taylor? Do you know?

Taylor Rockwell (3:19)

Most to all of the cool kids, I am reliably informed.

Ryan Bailey (3:23)

Most recent data suggests that is the case. patreon.com/totalsoccershow. So let's get to this game.

Taylor Rockwell (3:31)

Who are we back? Before we do that, I know you want to, Ryan.

Of the four of us, is it Graham that we back the most in a fist fight? I feel like, you know, mean streets of suburban Glasgow. Maybe it's Graham. I feel like he's got reach, if nothing else.

Joseph Lowery (3:43)

Graham has the reach. I mean, my answer is you, Taylor. I think there's some scrap in there, and I think you have the strength and the speed to pull it off. I really do.

Taylor Rockwell (3:53)

I'm hugging. I'm not slapping. Then I'm punching in the kidneys while hugging, as though I'm trying to make peace, yeah.
