**Hammer** (0:00)
Hammer and Nigel.
**Nigel** (0:01)
You believe these characters?
**Hammer** (0:02)
They're weirdos.
Yeah, Hammer, the search continuing for the gunman in the murder of the 23-year-old... I want to say kid, almost. 23-year-old kid, downtown parking garage, going to meet his family at the Indians game, I've been assured privately. And then publicly, IMPD has said that they are working hard and fast on this one. And as they should every murder, but this leaves a different taste in my mouth. This is the only new things we know is that I learned today that he was shot in the head and that IMPD detained somebody briefly, but then let him go.
**Nigel** (0:47)
Yeah, it's something that bothers me because I see a lot of my oldest son in this 23 year old that just lost his life. You know, was doing everything right, went to college, you know, got his degree from the Kelly School of Business, was parking downtown to meet his family to go watch a baseball game. I mean, that sounds like something we would do in the Hammer family.
**Hammer** (1:12)
It wasn't three o'clock at night either. It was the three o'clock in the morning.
**Nigel** (1:16)
Right.
**Hammer** (1:17)
In this parking garage.
**Nigel** (1:19)
Yeah.
**Hammer** (1:20)
This was late evening or early evening. And I just, you pray for the family and you pray for swift justice. You pray for the people that are on this investigating this shooting.
**Nigel** (1:33)
And I'm hoping there's some sort of video available. Usually in these garages, there's something you can get a lead on.
But the search continues for that. Now, tomorrow, scheduled to be joined by Senator Jim Banks, who had a very passionate speech on the floor in Washington, DC, not only talking about this young man, but what also is happening right now in Indianapolis. Most of this year, we kept hearing, numbers are down, crime is down, let's all celebrate and have a good time. Ever since Memorial Day weekend, it's been really bad here.
**Hammer** (2:14)
It has.
**Nigel** (2:15)
And when you think about the numbers being down, and we've talked about this before, it's not necessarily because of any policy that Joe Hogsett or Ryan Mears have made. It's certainly not because some of these woke judges in Marion County have a change of heart. It's been because of the law. It's been changes in the bail program. It's been legislation that's being worked on right now to work around Ryan Mears.
So that still continues to be a problem here in Indianapolis. So when they tell you the numbers are down, thank somebody that works at the Indiana State House, because that's why it's not because of Hogsett or Mears.
**Hammer** (2:59)
When you get called out on a federal level, like Ryan Mears did by Jim Banks, in a powerful statement on the Senate floor, which we reposted on our ex-account at Hammer and Nigel, you know something is, it's grabbed the attention of the nation. Things like this, these weak on crime, soft on crime prosecutors and or judges.
**Nigel** (3:25)
And this is a problem in a lot of larger big cities, not just Indianapolis. But this is where we live, and this is our backyard. And I hope they find the bastard that shot this kid. And I hope justice is served, and they keep him behind bars.
Another disturbing story coming out of Ben Davis High School, I saw this today on our news partner's, Fox 59's website, a janitor filing a lawsuit claiming she was raped by a co-worker while working at Ben Davis High School.
**Hammer** (4:00)
That's awful.
**Nigel** (4:01)
Now, according to the court documents, the former custodian was employed by the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township and worked at the high school. She's now suing both parties. And the description of what allegedly took place here, very disturbing.
She claims that there was another custodian that had somewhat become like joking and friendly with her, but it got to a point to where it made her uncomfortable. And then, I guess, according to the court documents here, this is what I'm gathering.
He was trying to be wacky, took her keys and said, Oh, you got to come outside to get your keys. Made her go to her car where the custodian and another co-worker sexually assaulted her in the car. They set a timer for 40 minutes. And then, when the timer went off, gave her the ability to get out of the car, but said, You can't tell anybody.
**Hammer** (5:03)
Timers involved in this?
**Nigel** (5:05)
Timers were involved and said, You can't tell anybody. No one would believe you anyway. And thankfully, the woman called the police. And now this big investigation is taking place.
