How does it feel?

**Laura Shin** (2:11)
Like crazy. I started this podcast on the side. I was originally just doing it every other week.
And it kind of carried my life in a whole different direction, which is so cool. You know, it's just like I loved crypto so much and I love podcasts. And yeah, I just started it because I wanted to do one. And then I saw Forbes, they suddenly released 12 podcasts. And I was like, wait, wait, wait. I was like, I want to do one. So mine became the 13th. And I think mine is the only one still going out of all those.

I can believe that. I can believe that. I don't think I've ever heard a single Forbes podcast, but I have obviously heard Unchained nonstop for almost a decade.
So tell me, okay, what was the very beginning of Unchained like? Who were you interviewing? Do you remember what your first interview was?

**Laura Shin** (3:10)
Yeah, yeah. So I started it on Necker Island. I got invited with like Bet Fury and Bill Tai and just I met so many cool people. I met Vinny Lingham there. I met Katie Hahn.
I just had a great time and I interviewed Matt Roszak-

2016, and Elizabeth Rociello. They were the two first shows I recorded on the island. It's funny because when I edited the Elizabeth Rociello one, I somehow missed the part where I asked her to lift her elbows off the table. So in the very first episode, there's this funny moment because I had this mic, a Yeti, where if you hit the desk in any way, it would make noise. So I was paranoid about it because it was my first time. But now I have a better mic.
Then even the show after that was Bill Tai.
But he's such an interesting person. But I was doing it every other week, and Forbes paid for the engineer and everything. Then after the first season, they dropped it, and I was desperate to keep it going. I was practically begging sponsors. I never sold a single thing in my entire life. Well, I guess, okay, I sold freelance pitches. That's a different thing. Then finally, this company that had been doing some websites for different crypto companies, they were like, oh, there's all these startups here. We should advertise on here. And so they did a full year sponsorship. They sponsored the whole thing for the year of 2017

Which company was this?

I think the name was OnRamp, actually, now that I think about it. OnRamp.

Are they dead?

I don't know. I mean, they do websites and marketing kind of materials for companies. So it's not like I'm covering them.
