I'm Ina Garten, and each week on Happy Hour, I invite new and old friends for a drink and a fun conversation at my kitchen table in New York City. On this week's episode, I'm joined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. We talk all about attending a fashion show in Paris together, throwing dinner parties, and making her Broadway debut in other desert cities.
New episodes of Happy Hour are available every Wednesday. You can watch on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts.
Scott Galloway (1:34)
He's not building a car. He's building a bridge to SpaceX one thruster at a time.
Kara Swisher (1:42)
Hi, everyone. This is Pivot from New York Magazine and the Vox Media Podcast Network. I'm Kara Swisher.
Scott Galloway (1:48)
And I'm Scott Galloway.
Kara Swisher (1:49)
Scott, are you sad your lady is gone? Kate Zacharia.
Scott Galloway (1:52)
It was so short, but so good.
Kara Swisher (1:54)
Oh, so short, but so good. Is that what you say about a lot of things?
Scott Galloway (1:58)
Short, but so good. Oh, there you go. There we are.
Kara Swisher (2:01)
I made a dick joke.
Scott Galloway (2:04)
Now you're cooking with propane and gas.
Kara Swisher (2:06)
I know, it's true. I mean, it's sad that she's gone, but it seems like, oh well.
Oh well. Who would you like to be press secretary? Who would give you some pleasure? If you, it's obviously not Scott Jennings, it's like talking to a lemon every day, but who would you like?
Scott Galloway (2:20)
I think Scott's going to get it. My bet would be there's going to be no one for a while, that they're just going to get through the midterms. Do they really need a spokesman? Trump to his credit, he does talk a lot.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's going to be someone who's blonde and very attractive and very aggressive. Your thoughts?
Kara Swisher (2:47)
I don't really care. It is Trump. Trump is the spokeslady for the administration, and so he'll just remain the spokeslady. I think that's it. He just can't go on. If he loses the elections, the way most people, I just did a panel of pollsters and other experts and they're like, oh, this is going to be bad.
The Cook Political Report, as you said, called it a riptide, they called it an undertow.
Scott Galloway (3:09)
Who do they call an undertow?
Kara Swisher (3:11)
The Republican undertow rather than a dumb way.
Scott Galloway (3:13)
Oh yeah, I think it's a red riptide, is the way I would talk about it. But supposedly, the Chancellor of Pepperdine has reached out to Katie Zacharia and asked her as a favor. She could say she graduated from San Diego State.
Can you imagine?
Kara Swisher (3:30)
No.
Scott Galloway (3:31)
Can you imagine you're the head of admissions for Pepperdine and you're like, oh, Jesus. That has not been good for the Pepperdine brand.
Kara Swisher (3:40)
No, it has not been good for the Pepperdine brand.
Scott Galloway (3:42)
By the way, probably the second or third most beautiful campus in America.
Kara Swisher (3:45)
It is. Pepperdine. I used to remember the celebrities used to do their celebrity battles and the sexes and stuff.
Scott Galloway (3:50)
That was at Pepperdine?
Kara Swisher (3:51)
Yeah. They did it at the beautiful Los Angeles, California from Pepperdine, stunning university.
Scott Galloway (3:56)
I love that one where they bring on the angel, like the fifth angel who wasn't as big as Jacqueline Smith. They'd all like. Where they'd have Robert Conrad in the 50-meter.
My favorite was Robert Conrad lost to Gabe Kaplan of Welcome Back Hotter in the 400-meter.
SPEAKER_5 (4:11)
I remember that.
