The Young Turks
September 29, 2026
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is calling for Israel to “go to war” in the West Bank and “do there what we did in Gaza,” as violence and tensions continue to escalate. Meanwhile, U.S. Marines were injured in a recent Iranian attack.

All right, welcome to The Young Turks, Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian with you guys. There's so much news, it's nearly impossible to keep up. So we've got Donald Trump potentially selling arms to our top competitor, China?
SPEAKER_2 (0:27)
What?
Cenk Uygur (0:28)
So I mean, there's just-
Ana Kasparian (0:29)
The dude's gone.
Cenk Uygur (0:30)
Like, yeah.
Ana Kasparian (0:31)
The brain has melted, it's leaking out of his ear.
Cenk Uygur (0:34)
I mean, if Joe Biden did any of this stuff, I along with everyone else would say he's got no brain left, right? And so that is what we're saying on top of all the other things. What I'm worried about is the things he intends rather than ones he doesn't intend, such as right now, we're gonna report more on this today.
The Iran war is totally back on, there's no chance of it being resolved anymore. Peace negotiations are completely dead, and the economy is teetering on the edge as we speak.
Netanyahu clearly knew about October 7th, the triple confirmed, we'll give you the details and the receipts in this show. And on top of everything else, Israeli ministers are talking about doing to the West Bank what they did to Gaza, destroying it, and then annexing it as part of Israel. And our media and our government treats this as perfectly normal. Well, of course, we should fund endless genocides and endless wars for a fascist government in the Middle East. Of course we should, don't you dare complain. So today, we will give you the reality, the truth, the facts, all backed up by reporting, and that is confirmed. So, let's get started on that count, and Kaspar.
Ana Kasparian (1:50)
Yes.
Cenk Uygur (1:50)
Good to see you in person.
Ana Kasparian (1:51)
Thank you, good to see you too. I love driving into the office, it's my favorite. Especially with these gas prices. But anyway, why don't we get started? We added a story later in the rundown. The press conference one. The press conference one, so let me start it off if you don't mind. So, we're going to have our boxes up. Just want to give you that warning. Let's take a look.
All right, well, what would appear to be President Donald Trump, the most powerful man in the United States, if not the free world, fell asleep during a press conference today. That is what you are literally watching with your own two eyes, if you happen to be a viewer of this show. He's just a complete and utter disaster jank of epic proportions. But that wasn't even the worst of this press conference. We're going to get to more of it in just a minute. Initial thoughts.
Cenk Uygur (2:41)
Sleepy Don Trump, and by the way, did he make fun of Sleepy Joe Biden right before he fell asleep? Yes, right on brand, right?
But to me, what he said is more important, of course, because it continues his absurdities and outrageous lies, which are all catching up with him. So that's the good news. So we'll have both of those. So hit us with the whole story, Ana.
Ana Kasparian (3:06)
Well, let's begin with some of the outlandish things he said. Or actually, outlandish for Trump, I think, is even more intense than what we're about to show you. But he continues to lie about how he's going to provide Americans with some stimmy checks if Republicans hold on to Congress. So without further ado, let's watch that portion of this Oval Office press conference.
Donald Trump (3:31)
Because of tariffs, we are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars of profits. It's one of the reasons I can offer, if Republicans win the House and the Senate, $5,000 to every adult.
And we can do it and the Democrats can't because the Democrats don't have any income. And they're gonna drive us into depression, they won't have any money. We have the exact opposite.
Ana Kasparian (4:01)
Because the Democrats don't have income as opposed to your administration, which cut taxes on corporations and the wealthy, thus depriving the federal government of revenue. Which honestly, these days, I wouldn't have that much of a problem with, except for the fact that we are still dealing with over $40 trillion in federal debt.
You're not gonna offer $5,000 checks to Americans. It's a lie, and you're literally trying to bribe people into supporting Republicans when their approval ratings are in the tank because of the war you started against Iran on behalf of Israel. Cenk, back to you.
Cenk Uygur (4:37)
The Dems don't have any income.
Neither do the Republicans. It's not a thing that makes any sense. No, the revenue comes from the American taxpayers. The Democrats and the Republicans are generally in charge of robbing us blind and taking all of our money and handing it to their donors. But neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have an income, so that doesn't make any sense. But it's Donald Trump.
