You're listening to The Hammer and Nigel Show. Yeah, my name is Nigel, Hammer is out, Ethan Hatcher is in, we'll hook up with Tony Kinnett from Daily Signal, investigative reporter for dailysignal.com, also host of The Tony Kinnett Cast, weeknights at 7 o'clock, right here on 93WIBC, right after this show. Tony, I remember you putting this weirdo Gram Platner on our radar before anybody even knew who he was.

**Tony Kinnett** (0:30)
Who?

**Nigel** (0:31)
I do remember that weeks and weeks and weeks ago, I remember you talking about this guy, something about a porta potty. Then I'm like, where did this guy come from? Why should people in Indiana be paying attention to what is happening in Maine? And just talk about this Nazi for a second.

**Tony Kinnett** (0:52)
Yeah, so the Democrats have seen a group of Republicans splinter away from the rest of them and have gone down this Tucker Carlson path and Candace Owens path and just genuinely being stupid for no reason path. And essentially they've said, well, clearly what the people want are men who act like these weirdos. And so they found James Tallarico down in Texas, who's trying to rewrite his entire campaign and Gram Platner, who has all of the scandals. So yes, you know, a couple of years, it was revealed in a late last year kind of reveal that he had a Nazi tattoo, that it was a totem cough, an SS tattoo he got when he was in the Marines.
And he had all, but he had all of this PTSD. So that was the explanation for it. He had a really hard time. Well, he lied about that. He lied about having PTSD and being really Mr. Struggles because he got home and he turned around. And he went to work for the private military company Blackwater. Now, I have some experience with certain private military companies. And Blackwater is like the gutter trash of the group. And he's even mocked in that group for what it's worth.
Yeah. And then also maybe domestically abused some women, including a friend of mine.
And then up until this last week, may have been messaging little girls, teenage girls on Kick Messenger, which is the messaging platform that has more cases of creditors messaging minors. Like that is the app to do that stuff. Yeah. And oh, by the way, his profile picture on that is him in a towel. And he's been cheating on his wife that he just married in 2023 all over. So like scumbag. But he's got the son does the approval. And then the left also thinks, well, he's anti-war. So that makes him good. And that's, let's just say he's not highly regarded, not the R word I would choose.

**Ethan Hatcher** (2:41)
So right now, the Democrats in Maine are positioning Gram Platner as a man of the people and kind of his version of a populist. I guess you were alluding to the Tucker Carlson crowd earlier.

**Tony Kinnett** (2:54)
Yes, left-wing populism.

**Ethan Hatcher** (2:55)
Yeah, left-wing populism.
What would lead them to think that this guy is a man of the people? Because he just seems like a nutcase, especially when the women of the view won't touch this guy. He's so toxic with a 10-foot pole. You got to be terrible.

**Tony Kinnett** (3:09)
So that's the question, right? And this is something that Republicans learned back in 2022, or many Republicans, not all of them, learned back in 2022 And this is where I'll catch a couple of arrows here. So Republicans in 22 were like, oh, you know what we need for the midterm? We need candidates who are just like Donald Trump. And they had no idea what that meant. And a lot of them still don't. So they ran people that were just really loud and said spicy things, like that debate when Trump was like, Hillary Clinton, you'd be in jail. And so everyone thought, well, just run these people.
And it turned out that that wasn't enough to get Carrie Lake over the finish line and Bershaw Walker over the finish line because they were wackadoodles with lots of scandals. Talking about the Edgelords. And I'm sorry.
Yes, the Edgelords. That's not enough. You know, it's not enough just to have memes. You need some competence too. Well, now Democrats are trying the same thing. And so with Platner, they're trying to make him man of the people.
And they faked his oyster farm. He's not even an oyster farmer. He sells oysters for a farm to his mommy's restaurant.

**Nigel** (4:11)
Is that his only customer is his mom's restaurant or the oyster thing?

**Tony Kinnett** (4:15)
