Brand new 2 Bears, 1 Cave. After almost eight weeks apart, Tom and I are back. And it is safe to say a lot has happened in those eight weeks for myself, which we will ignore at this point, because I'm curious, Tom, I say I don't read comments, but I've been all in the comments. I can't help it. The internet is fucking divided. And I would just like to hear it from you.
Just set the record straight. Have you seen The Odyssey?
Tom Segura (0:38)
I have not. Here's the thing, I have attempted to.
I was in London, and then I was in DC, and I had my show days, and then I had off days. I tried to buy tickets.
Bert Kreischer (0:54)
You did shows in London?
Tom Segura (0:55)
I did spots in London. I did shows in Baltimore and DC.
Bert Kreischer (0:59)
I saw that. Did you meet up with Tony Woods?
Tom Segura (1:02)
No, and they were like, he's here. I was like, great, send him back. Never came back.
But in DC, I tried buying tickets five days out, which I was like, that's plenty of time, sold out. And I mean, I checked like four or five theaters in the area. Everything was sold out. Let me tell you, I've seen it twice.
SPEAKER_3 (1:23)
I've seen it twice.
Tom Segura (1:24)
Have you seen an IMAX?
Bert Kreischer (1:26)
I saw it in IMAX. I saw it in a regular movie theater.
I have a lot of notes.
Tom Segura (1:33)
You should let Nolan know.
Bert Kreischer (1:35)
I have access to Nolan. My buddy produced a movie.
Tom Segura (1:38)
He produced The Odyssey?
Bert Kreischer (1:39)
The Odyssey, yeah.
Tom Segura (1:40)
And when you say I have access, are you thinking of maybe crafting an email and sending it to him?
Bert Kreischer (1:44)
No, no, no, no, no, no. I have to say, I genuinely liked the movie.
Tom Segura (1:49)
Good.
Bert Kreischer (1:50)
I genuinely liked the movie. Okay, now, here we go. Elliot Page, that's the big, what everyone wants to know.
Not distracting, in my opinion. I thought Elliot Page is, first of all, a great actor, always has been. Everything Elliot has done in Elliot's career has been fucking phenomenal.
Tom Segura (2:13)
Great actor.
Bert Kreischer (2:14)
Such a great actor.
Tom Segura (2:15)
You were bothered. I remember when the trailer came out, you were like, I cannot believe they have a black woman as Helen and Troy. I was outraged. You were pissed. I remember.
I remember.
Bert Kreischer (2:26)
Can I tell you, I think that's the best casting they've ever done.
Tom Segura (2:29)
Really?
Bert Kreischer (2:29)
And I'll tell you why. Yeah, I'll tell you why. Helen and Troy is such an important character in that story.
And I don't mean to sound whatever, but if they had just cast a regular white, a white, yeah. You would have never, it would have never. Stood out? You just would have been like, huh.
SPEAKER_4 (2:49)
I know.
Bert Kreischer (2:50)
Whoever starred in anything with Adam Sandler, all those women. Okay. It would have been like, oh, that's Helen and Troy. Yeah, she'll be, we'll never hear from her again. You know, you needed a name. Now here's the thing, you needed a name. And the fact that it was Lupita and Lupita, I think, by the way, for the record, if I'm going black, that's the direction I'm going.
Tom Segura (3:09)
Again, she will be thrilled to hear this.
Bert Kreischer (3:12)
By the way, I have access to Lupita.
Tom Segura (3:14)
You have access to her?
Bert Kreischer (3:15)
I have access to Lupita.
Tom Segura (3:16)
Through the same producer or the same trainer?
Bert Kreischer (3:19)
Yeah, and by the way, you could slip a note. Dark, dark, hall.
Tom Segura (3:24)
Dark, dark? Are we describing her?
Bert Kreischer (3:27)
I love dark, I love, oh my god, she is absolutely fucking gorgeous. And gorgeous in that movie, and so kind of stands out in that cast, that I kind of went, oh, that's Helen of Troy. I didn't go like, oh, Helen of Troy is black. Now listen, listen, I'm gonna tell you something, okay? Very clearly, and I apologize if this is gonna sound not woke, but I get distracted sometimes when I watch Say Little House on the Prairie, and they have a black doctor in the 1700s, that I'm like, hold on, are we not gonna address the fact?
Tom Segura (3:56)
It takes you out of the scene, yeah.
Bert Kreischer (3:58)
Are we gonna, like when I watched the remake of Grease, they did it on TV, and they have just white kids and black kids at school together in the fucking 40s, and I'm like, hold on, where's the fire hoses? Where's the German shepherds? Like, I go, like, I get this, I do, if it fucks with the story, I get caught up. I was, listen, I want to say this, and I was fucking famous for this, and I got shit fucking seven years ago, Tom, I got shit on for this, and I'm right.
