You know, one of the things I love about this time of year, the 4th of July, Independence Day, is the moment that we can step back and just think about and reflect on how all of this happened. And when you do that, when you step back and realize that it was really just a bunch of farmers and towns folks and a lot of young people who created this country and put it all on the line for this country, you realize, and you have to see, I think, God's hand in the creation of the United States of America. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Todd Starnes Radio program. What an honor to have you with us as we celebrate. And we reflect on the greatness of America and what made this nation the most exceptional nation on the planet. And I know there's a lot of polling data out there, and we're going to get to some of that today, where record numbers of Democrats hate our country and they hate our way of life. They hate freedom. They hate capitalism. And I'm going to explain why that is, because there is a reason why so many people in our country hate who we are. And some of you may have some thoughts on that as well. And I say all that because I see what's happening in so many other countries around the world. America is special. America is unique. Even, I know a lot of folks love Europe, and they love to go on the vacations to England and France and Belgium and Germany. I get that. And I don't want to take anything away from those countries, except they suck compared to the United States. But no, in all seriousness, I don't want to take anything away from them. But they're not us. They don't enjoy the same freedom that we enjoy. And we have something that is truly unique. You know, we were talking over the past couple of weeks about the, what is it, about a million, 1.2 million visitors from other countries, criss-crossing America. And they were not going to the big cities. They were going to places like Mobile, Alabama, or New Orleans, or Houston, or Oklahoma City. And they were literally getting off the interstates and they were driving the back roads of America. And person after person after person was just so stunned at how beautiful our country is and how beautiful her people are and how amazing the food is. And the fact that we've got big gas stations with giant beavers in them, and we sell something called beaver nuggets, and we have fried chicken, and even in Memphis, Tennessee, they were talking about how great the barbecue was, and we have Graceland. We have everything you could imagine in the United States of America.
And person after person would post a video on TikTok or X, and they would talk about how different America turned out to be because they thought that they were coming to a dystopian world. They thought they were coming to a place where people were living in constant fear and that there was hate everywhere. And that's not the America they discovered because they discovered the real America, the true America, the America that is the reality of us as opposed to what is manufactured on cable television and out of Hollywood.
And for me, that was, it's really been a beautiful thing to see. And you can't help but smile and feel good because you're like, yeah, you know what, Uncle Lou's in Memphis, yeah, sure, they're in the ghetto, but they got great fried chicken. Or if you're in Texas, you're going down and you're having brisket in the hill country. Those are quintessential American things. And our entire way of life is under attack. It's under attack because the enemy is inside the gates. And again, we'll get to that in just a little while. But I keep going back to the idea that our nation, our great nation was birthed. And in pubs and church houses, isn't that the craziest thing? Isn't it truly a uniquely American thing? Where men and women would sit around and they would drink their beer out of giant mugs in the pub houses across the colonies. And they would talk about freedom and liberty, and they conspired and they plotted together. And in the church houses, where you had ministers of the gospel, and they understood that they had a role in the planning and the execution of the plans that would lead to the birth of America. It was a very different time in this land, back in the 1700s. The churches were on fire. The churches were a part of the community. They did not stand off. They were engrossed in all of the affairs, all of the things that were happening.
