You're either all in on this model, or maybe you're building with another. You're either speed, or is it security?

Here's your afternoon TNB Tech Minute for Wednesday, September 2nd. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal.
New York City is banning the use of AI in public school classrooms through middle school for one year. While officials study the impact of the technology. The ban will cover roughly 600,000 students from preschool through eighth grade. Chatbots will be banned across all grades. And new screen time limits will be introduced. Here's Mayor Zoran Mamdani announcing the policy today.

The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but that it is necessary. We do not see it that way.
**Julie Chang** (0:54)
City officials will conduct a study and release recommendations for future school years. New York City will also develop AI literacy classes for high schoolers. And teachers will still be allowed to use AI for instructional planning.
German delivery company Delivery Hero confirmed it is in favor of a $14.8 billion takeover bid from Uber Technologies and advised shareholders to accept the offer. The move would tie up two of the world's biggest food delivery platforms. Delivery Hero said its management and supervisory boards had independently reviewed the US giant's offer and said the boards share Uber's view that the combination could speed up innovation and create additional opportunities for all stakeholders. Uber reached an agreement in July to buy Delivery Hero after steadily increasing its stake to become its largest shareholder.
And staying on Uber. The company announced it's laying off 3,300 employees, or about 10% of its workforce, to trim management layers and streamline divisions. In a letter to employees today, CEO Dharakasar Shahi said the company grew fast over the past few years, but added layers and management structures that made sense when the business was smaller. He added that the layoffs will allow it to reinvest savings in the future. The restructuring comes after Uber softened its outlook last month. And that's your TNB Tech Minutes. Check back in the morning for another quick tech update. Why can't we get AI to production?
