This is not a drill, it's not some hype video. This is an emergency. If you hold Bitcoin on a cold card, and you didn't use multi-sig or a passphrase, you are in a race against time, against attackers, right now. Here's what you need to do right now. If you aren't sure, if you rolled the dice, if you aren't sure if you have a passphrase, or if you aren't sure if your passphrase is secure enough, you must take action immediately and move the funds out of the Coldcard wallet you are currently using. I suggest this option and caution you. Doing an emergency migration of your funds can be stressful. You're at risk of making a mistake. We're anxious. We're in a hurry. We're sweaty.

I found from Bull Bitcoin, Option one, download a Bitcoin wallet on your phone, even strike or cash app right now to migrate funds before trying to figure out a new setup and trying to do everything all at once. Write down your seed words with this new wallet if you use Aqua, for example, or a similar wallet like Bull Bitcoin. Make sure you have a copy of these words securely stored. Do not ever take a picture or type this into a computer or your phone. Ever, never, ever. Never share it with anyone. No matter who asks for it, send all the funds to the mobile wallet immediately. Your funds are no longer at risk from the Coldcard entropy bug. You can think about a permanent solution for cold storage of your Bitcoin later, and you can have the Bitcoin Way walk you through it. And you can have them do that right now. Now option two, update your Coldcard's firmware using these instructions. And Bull Bitcoin has all these instructions for you. You should check it out, follow through here. Select the Advanced Tools menu option. Select the temporary seed option.
Select Generate Words. Select the 24 dice roll option.
Grab a pair of dice. Roll the dice a hundred times. You will enter the number you get on the dice in the Coldcard device. Once that is done, you will be asked to write down your seed words. Do that again on a piece of paper. Keep it secure. Do not take a picture. Do not put it on your computer, phone. Do not share it with anyone. You will be asked if you want to keep this seed in the seed vault. Click yes.
On the home page of your Coldcard, you will see the seed vault option. Make sure the new seed is selected. You can rename it, quote, safe wallet to make it easy for you. On the home page, you will see passphrase option. Enter a strong passphrase. It must be complex enough that it's very hard to remember. If you're not sure if your passphrase is strong enough, select six words randomly.
Do not ask an AI to select six words. If you're anxious, we find it helpful to pick the words randomly from this list, and that's the BIP 39 phrase list. Make sure your passphrase is in a secure location, preferably separated from your seed. Without it, you won't be able to access your funds. After entering this passphrase, you will enter a secure randomly generated Coldcard wallet. It's extremely important to test recovery of the new wallet, which has a passphrase before moving substantial funds to it. Once you have tested recovery and confirmed access to the new wallet, proceed to move funds from the vulnerable wallet to the new secure Coldcard wallet. And you know, some people may say, why do that? Well, it's because you actually have that device on hand and you can fix things a little quicker.
