Ben Crump felt the ground move. That's why he was in my city yesterday, not on Horn Island, not in Mississippi, not in front of a grand jury, nope, he was here at the National Urban League Convention in downtown Nashville, stacking three unfinished deaths into one national show.
A drowning in Mississippi, a drowning near Dallas, a shooting in Kentucky. And while he worked the stage, something else was moving on the timeline. The father of Nolan Wells' best friend, Ben Hudson, Warren Hudson's dad has been saying out loud what a lot of people on that coast have been whispering.
He's coming for Ben Crump. Defamation, exploitation, turning a tragedy into a hustle. Other families in this blast radius have already lined up lawyers over for murder talk, doxing, ruin. Sit with this. The traveling circus just hit National Civil Rights letterhead, and on the same news cycle, the other side started talking paper. Not a Twitter clap back, a lawsuit. People have had enough. Ben Crump keeps pressing harder because he can feel the resistance swell.

So you guys know I live here in Nashville. I watched this come to town. Pull up the National Urban League's website yourself. Founded in 1910, Mark Morrell runs it. Their own history, their own site, the record on Wikipedia, all the same spine, economic and social justice, jobs, education, housing, workforce, entrepreneurship, built to fight discrimination by building black capacity in American cities. Not a dive team, not a coroner, not the Mississippi Marine Resources offices, not the district attorney in Jackson County. So what does the Urban League have to do with a drowning off the Mississippi coast? Nothing.
Nothing to investigate. Everything distributive. Take a listen.

Our members who were planning to come to Nashville asked me late last week if we would be commenting on dealing with shedding any light on the Nolan Wells case.
I invited Ben Crump to come to Nashville to brief us on the Wells case. In the course of that conversation, he shared with me, by the way, there are two other similar cases. I said, two other similar cases? I said, Ben, can you bring all of the families to Nashville, because the thousands of urban leaders who are here are interested in, have a solidarity with, want to hear directly, not through filters, about the circumstances of these cases. And that is what the National Urban League Conference is all about.

Mm, that's what it's all about.
That's what it's all about. Not, hey, we staffed an independent lab, not we bankrolled a forensics process that ends when the evidence ends. We brought the families to Nashville so the conference could stand with them. That's hospitality for a narrative. That's not horn island truth seeking. That's the Urban League brand is basic economic uplift. Yesterday, that brand rented a ballroom to Ben Crump's grief circus.
When an economics organization starts hosting crime theater, somebody is selling a different product than the brochure. Nolan Wells, 18, Mississippi water after the fourth stretch, independent autopsy still undetermined, no murder charge, process ongoing. Daniel Irving, Dallas area, ruled drowning, friends looking at tampering, not at a homicide conviction. Family wants more sunlight, fair enough.
Tyler Smith, Lexington, gunshot at a house party. Family rejects the easy story, tampering in the air, not a closed national martyr foul. Three sets of parents in hell. I will not perform on their pain. I will not perform on the man who industrializes it. I will perform on him. Here's Ben Crump.

And just like we got justice for George Floyd, just like we got justice for Breonna Taylor, we back just like we got justice for Ahmaud Arbery, we gonna get justice for Nolan Wells, we gonna get justice for Daniel Irving, and we gonna get justice for Taylor Smith, and the last part is because you all are not afraid to speak truth to power.

None of that was just us or justice or whatever, however Crump pronounced it, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, all these other cases he's referencing. None of that had anything to do with justice. That had to do with picking people's pockets. But at least those cases were closed, the verdicts are in, they're a national memory. But now they're being welded to open files. So your gut supplies the villain before a jury is even called.
That is racial gaslighting with a law degree.

Watch. It hits me that all of them are 18-year-old black kids that died in very questionable circumstances when Nolan was the only black kid on the boat, Daniel was the only black kid alleged on a fishing trip, and Tyler was the only black kid at the 4th of July celebration party, house party. And all of them are 18 years old. Look at the dates. I mean, that's eerie when you look at the dates. February 8th, Tyler Smith is born, July 4th, 2026 He is dead. Can I see the other photograph? This is Daniel Irvin. I mean, he's born November 21st, 2007 He is dead on April 17th, 2026 Where's the other one?
