Marques Brownlee (1:00)

I would strongly advise against using this very often, especially if you're a beginning creator.

Ellis Rovin (1:08)

Focus on retaining the light in your motherf***** eye.

SPEAKER_8 (1:12)

Retention graph of the light in your eyes.

Marques Brownlee (1:18)

Yo, what is up, people of the Internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marques.

Andrew Manganelli (1:23)

I'm Andrew.

Marques Brownlee (1:24)

And I'm David. We've got Ellis and Adam over at the producer desk, and we got a lot to talk about because it's still Techtember. We've got a first look at Google Books for real for real.

The new Snapdragon chipsets, a couple of Apple rumors, and then some nutty specs for the OnePlus 16 I might cry. And then also some existential thoughts on new YouTube features.

Andrew Manganelli (1:46)

Our favorite thing to talk about.

Marques Brownlee (1:47)

I've thought about them so much.

Andrew Manganelli (1:49)

Yeah. Am I so much the hour car ride here? And he's ready to go off. Make sure you stick to the end.

Marques Brownlee (1:55)

Every second of that car ride.

Andrew Manganelli (1:56)

Make sure you subscribe to see us take advantage of all of these sick new YouTube features.

SPEAKER_2 (2:00)

Yeah.

Marques Brownlee (2:00)

At lunch, we started to have a crash out and then we said, save it for the pump.

Andrew Manganelli (2:04)

I screamed it from across the room.

SPEAKER_2 (2:06)

Yeah.

Andrew Manganelli (2:06)

Shut up, everyone.

Marques Brownlee (2:07)

But first, did they even test this? Did they, Ellis?

Ellis Rovin (2:12)

Dude, I don't think so, man. Because this one's been really, okay. It used to happen to me a lot and then it stopped happening and then it happened to me again on Tuesday, yesterday. And it made me so angry that I was like, I'm going straight to the podcast with this. There is a weird feature in the Apple Alarm Clock. I'm pretty sure I've spoken about it on this podcast in the past, but we're bringing it up again because this is so, this is the, there's, I've never seen a bug that is more antithetical to the functioning of a tech product than this. When your iPhone is in standby mode on MagSafe and the alarm goes off, sometimes the alarm does not go off. Instead, you get a notification on your phone, like a normal iOS notification that says alarm.

And there is nothing more infuriating than waking up an hour after your alarm goes off with an hour old notification that says alarm and no sound playing.

Marques Brownlee (3:19)

Can I ask a question? Are you on iOS 27 or 26?

Ellis Rovin (3:25)

I'm not a beta, I don't use any betas.

Marques Brownlee (3:27)

But, 27 is out. It's officially out as of a few days ago. So, if you have updated your phone in the last week or two to the...

SPEAKER_9 (3:33)

No way.

Andrew Manganelli (3:34)

And so, it weirdly sounds like...

Marques Brownlee (3:35)

26

SPEAKER_9 (3:36)

Okay.

Marques Brownlee (3:36)

The other question is... So, iOS 27, believe it or not, iOS 27 is the first version of iOS that you can independently control alarm volume and system volume.

Andrew Manganelli (3:48)

Yeah.

Marques Brownlee (3:49)

I would wonder if it's potentially you had your system volume all the way down, and in iOS 26, that means no volume for your alarm, and if it fixes when you update.

Ellis Rovin (4:00)

That's an excellent proposal and perhaps my system volume down. But I do want to say, it's not because when your alarm goes off, when your phone is in standby mode, two buttons appear, silence alarm and snooze alarm.
