The UK is investigating Paramount's takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. More on that coming up. But first, Razer is expanding its offerings for digital creators with the release of its first XLR-capable streaming and podcasting microphone, the Siren V3 Pro. With onboard digital signal processing, DSP, and several other built-in conveniences, the company is positioning this product as a microphone that can cater both to first-time streamers and more advanced creators. The main feature of the Siren V3 Pro compared to its predecessor, the Razer Siren V3 Chroma, is its XLR analog connector, which sits aside a dual USB-C option. XLR is the standard connector type for professional microphones, but XLR devices must be run through an audio interface or mixer before being connected to a computer. For that reason, beginners who dip their toes into streaming or recording audio often opt for a USB microphone that will plug and play with any modern operating system. Razer has included both options on the Siren V3 Pro, allowing audio recording novices to dip their toes in the water with the USB connection before later buying the gear needed to facilitate the XLR plug.
In gaming news, continuing a strong resurgence for the Silent Hill series, Konami and ScreenBurn Interactive are bringing another different take on the Dark Horror series. The latter is best known for their narrative-led titles, Stories Untold and Observation, and they decided to set their horror scenario in the early 90s on a remote isle off the coast of northern Scotland. Anyone who's been to the rugged beauty of Scotland can attest. It's an area that can make its own thick, mysterious fog. Ideal then for a Silent Hill chapter. Silent Hill Townfall is set in St. Amelia, a fictional town made from photos, sketches, and maps of actual Scottish villages. The level of detail is meticulous. A hands-off demo at Summer Game Fest 2026 revealed that being careful and cautious is paramount to survival. The demo starts with protagonist Simon Ordel sitting in the middle of the fog with an intravenous canula and hospital wrist ID band still attached. In a new take on the radios of the first few Silent Hill games, he's equipped with a portable TV and not much else. UK antitrust officials have opened a formal investigation into Paramount's pending takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, WBD. The Competition and Markets Authority, CMA, announced on Tuesday that it will begin a merger inquiry into the $110 billion acquisition. The first phase of the probe will get underway today, with the watchdog looking into the deal's potential impact on competition. The CMA has an August 7th deadline to decide whether to advance matters to a second and more in-depth phase, which would put Paramount's hope of closing the deal in the third quarter of this year into significant doubt. The company beat Netflix in a bidding war for WBD over the winter. Earlier this month, it was reported that several US states, including California and New York, are preparing a lawsuit in an attempt to block the merger. California Attorney General Rob Bonta previously pledged to investigate the deal as well.
