The Three Marketing Methods ALL Freelancers Need to Know About

6 Figure Creative

July 29, 2021

We've all heard the stories of creatives who are struggling to grow their business, and it's easy to feel like you're just not doing enough. Others feel like using marketing is “selling out” and not genuine. The fact is, every business needs marketing.

This is the 6 Figure Creative Podcast, Episode 157

Welcome to the 6 Figure Creative Podcast, where our mission is to help you turn your creative passions into a stable, reliable income. If you're in audio, video, design, photography, or really any other creative field, and you just want to learn from other successful creatives, you're in the right place.

Welcome to another episode of the 6 Figure Creative Podcast. I am your host, Brian Hood, and I'm here with my big, bald, beautiful, sexy co-host, Christopher J. Graham. That's the first time I've ever dropped the S-bomb on you, dude. How do you feel?

Christopher J. Graham (0:35)

Not great, but we'll get back to that later.

Brian Hood (0:39)

Well, it's because you didn't have your purple shirt on today, which you usually do. You have a black shirt on today, which makes me feel sad. I was wondering why I felt a little weird today. It's because you have a black shirt on with your dark background.

Christopher J. Graham (0:48)

It's true. I'm blending in.

Brian Hood (0:50)

For those who don't know, the 6 Figure Creative Podcast is now a video podcast as well. So if you're watching this on YouTube, by chance, then you see Chris's sexy self and his black shirt. If not, you just see the photo that's on your podcast right now, whatever you use. So there's that.

Christopher J. Graham (1:04)

Banter. I have banter.

Brian Hood (1:06)

Let's talk about banter. OK, so skip to probably eight minutes of this podcast if you want to skip all banter. Here we go. Go ahead, Chris.

Christopher J. Graham (1:12)

I got a kitten.

Brian Hood (1:15)

I'm never going to talk about your dumb cat. I hate cats.

Christopher J. Graham (1:18)

It's amazing. Its name is NASA. All capital letters, just like the space organization.

Brian Hood (1:23)

That's the best name for a cat I've ever heard.

Christopher J. Graham (1:26)

I knew you'd love it.

Brian Hood (1:27)

But it doesn't change the fact that the cat sucks.

Christopher J. Graham (1:29)

It literally, it sleeps on me all night long.

Brian Hood (1:32)

Because it's plotting to kill you. That's why.

Christopher J. Graham (1:35)

It's cute enough that I might let it. I'm not going to lie.

It's so awesome.

Brian Hood (1:39)

On your tombstone. It lived a long and great life, but killed by stupid NASA the kitten.

Christopher J. Graham (1:46)

He seemed to think it was worth it. Oh, man. Yeah, she's fantastic. I got her at the Humane Society. And the Humane Society named her NASA. And I was like, OK, I'm going to get this this freaking cat. His name is NASA. And my kids were my default.

Brian Hood (2:00)

I could have gone for a dog, and I would have still gotten that cat just because of its name. Now, I would have like I would have hated the cat my entire life. I would have yelled at it and like pointed my finger and shamed it all the time just because it's a cat. But I've taken it home because I don't want a cat called NASA stuck in the humane. So good for you, at least for like adopting a cat instead of buying one from some hoity toity cat breeder. Cat breeders are things like dog breeders, by the way.

Christopher J. Graham (2:23)

They are. I almost bought a ragdoll cat, which is like a bunch of money. But like you pick them up and they just go limp and let you like snuggle them.

Brian Hood (2:31)

Only a stupid cat would do that. They're so stupid.

I love dogs. Just so you know, anyone that's like, Brian has no heart. No, I freaking love dogs. The only reason we don't have a dog is because like we want to travel. We want to see things before we're like and not be tied down to the, you know.

Christopher J. Graham (2:45)

You know, what's great for that is a cat.

Brian Hood (2:48)

No, because the cat will like poop everywhere. I don't know what a cat does. What's wrong with you? The cat literally doesn't care about you. You're there to serve the cat. The dog is there to serve you. That's the difference. Dogs love humans.

Cats tolerate humans. Period. End of story.

Christopher J. Graham (3:04)

I have a robot that cleans up my cat's feces.

Brian Hood (3:08)

What did you name it? Jarvis?

Christopher J. Graham (3:10)

Oh, it doesn't have a name yet.

Brian Hood (3:11)

Yeah. Our robot, his name is Tippi. He's a little circular robot, and he goes around tipping shit over on our house, and he's great.
