Okay, our friends, so today we are going to read a story for you that I have never attempted to do, a story like this before, because today's story is basically the smaller version of a masterpiece book, a book that is one of the greatest children's books in the history of all time. And it's really hard to summarize this whole big book into a smaller picture book, but we found someone who did it.

Actually, one entire centimeter thick.

Oh, you mean?

The actual book is actually a little bit more, a little bit less than a centimeter thick.

Yeah, the paperback version of the full book. But this is the hardback version. But what we're looking at is, it's the picture book version of the book, a book we have never tried to read before. It is called Narnia, The Magician's Nephew. And this was written by CS. Lewis, and the pictures are by Tai Mai Fong. And my friends, I cannot recommend that you get your hands on a copy of this book enough.
It is gorgeous. It is a masterpiece. The illustrations are on point. And it's spectacular, so run and get a copy.
But I'm doing it because it's time for a patron shout out. And I would like to dedicate today's magical story to Caroline and Junie. Their mama Andrea messaged me and was like, hey, my girls are really loving Story time with Philip and Mommy. And I think it would mean a lot to them to have a special story. And I said, I've got one. I've got I've got a great one. I've been waiting to use it. So without any further ado, Narnia, Narnia, The Magician's Nephew by CS. Lewis. Philip. Here we go. This is a story about something that happened long ago. It is a very important story because it shows how all the comings and goings between our own world and the land of Narnia first began. In those days, a girl named Polly lived in London and one morning a boy named Diggory scrambled over the garden wall. Diggory's mother was sick and Diggory was upset. There was nothing he could do. They lived next door with his uncle, Andrew.
Uncle Andrew has a study on the top floor, said Diggory. And I must never go up there. How exciting, said Polly, and that's how their adventures began. See, Polly and Diggory decided to explore a dark and dusty tunnel in the attics that connected the houses. And when they pushed open a little door at the end, they weren't in an attic at all.
And when we turn the page, we can see what the kids see when they open that door.
It's a beautiful room, isn't it? With a roaring fireplace and a desk with lots of interesting looking things on it. Well, on a table in the sitting room lay a tray of rings. And in a chair sat Uncle Andrew. I'm delighted to see you. He said, I'm in the middle of a great experiment.
Now, Polly and Diggory had a bad feeling and wanted to go home. But first, Uncle Andrew offered Polly a yellow ring. Don't, Diggory shouted at Polly, but it was too late. She touched one of the yellow rings, and immediately there was no Polly.
The ring had sent her to another place. Uncle Andrew told Diggory how he'd come to inherit a box with magic dust from the dawn of time. He used it to make rings, yellow to send someone to the other place, and green to bring them back. She can get back if someone else will go after her with the rings, said Uncle Andrew slyly. Diggory took a deep breath, bravely picked up the rings and vanished. Instantly, I know how surprising and exciting and terrifying. Suddenly he was standing at the edge of a small pool in a wood with Polly. Hoping to get back home, they tried on the green rings, but nothing happened. They tried again and jumped into a different pond, and there was no doubt about the magic this time. Down, they rushed through darkness and whirling shapes until they hit the soft ground, and they were in a courtyard surrounded by ruins. Do you know what ruins are? How would you describe what ruins are?
