Hello, I'm Ray Rike, Founder and CEO of Benchmarkit, and your host of the Metrics It Measure Up podcast. We talked to a wide variety of the top B2B SaaS and Cloud thought leaders, CEOs, executives, investors, and people just like you to discuss the metrics and benchmarks they use to make metrics informed and benchmark validated decisions. Now, on to today's show. Welcome to today's episode of the Metrics at Measure Up podcast. Today, I am joined by Ben Eisenberg, the CEO of People Data Labs. We'll be covering four primary topics with Ben today. First, the top challenges customers are facing with today's data intelligence solutions. Second, how does People Data Labs ensure they remain compliant with the evolving nature of data privacy laws and even vendor-specific terms of service? Third, how will next-generation data intelligence solutions address those challenges that we talked about earlier? And then last, I want to wrap up with Ben's personal career journey from data engineer to CEO in a seven-year time frame. So with that, Ben, can you please take a moment to give a brief overview of your journey becoming my guest here on the Metrics at Measure Up podcast?

Yeah, of course, Ray. First off, thank you so much for having me. So yeah, I'm Ben. I'm the CEO of People Data Labs. People Data Labs, what we do is we build B2B data on people, on companies. We collect job posting data. And really what we do with that data is we try to power products and platforms that are looking for high quality data to build solutions, whether it's in HR, sales and marketing, investment research, fraud and identity, commercial real estate, and lots of other different use cases.
At its core, our thesis is that every company is becoming a data company. They're looking to buy third party data. They're looking to build with data. And what we want is anytime anyone thinks about buying data, we want them to think, you know, People Data Labs is very reliable. They're really trustworthy. They've got really great data. They've got really great people to work with. You know, we'd love to go and work with them on whatever data project we're working on. And so, you know, 10 years ago, when the business was founded, that was sort of the core thesis, not initially, but as soon as we went through our first couple of pivots, we landed on that thesis. And, you know, it's really underpinned the company as we've continued to grow and power more and more, you know, products and platforms in the space. Hey, Ben.

Now, I've got a couple years of experience on you. So as a customer of Data Intelligence Solutions for 20 plus years, I've seen the rise and fall of some pretty hot companies. So starting back with D&B and Hubert's back in the late 80s, early 90s, then Jigsaw, which was acquired by Salesforce and became their data.com product that they shut down in 2020 Then there was InsideView, Rainmaker, which acquired ZoomInfo and became what we know of ZoomInfo today. Seamless, Apollo. Why is this market, I'm calling it the data intelligence market, so fraught with so many challenges that we see companies rising and falling all the time, Ben? You heard about Lifeflow. It's the easiest way to automate spreadsheet FP&A. Lifeflow updates QuickBooks Online and zero actuals in your models without breaking your formulas. Finance leaders are transforming everything from forecast to board reports into live 24x7 control centers. Some are even avoiding switches to expensive ERPs with no formula real-time consolidation. Thousands of companies are making life easier with Lifeflow. Join them at lifflow.com/metrics.
That's liveflow.com/metrics.

Yeah. I mean, I think one is that the market is constantly changing. I mean, when you think about the data space, the number of people who were a data engineer or data scientist, 20 years ago is very, very different than the number of people who are data scientists and engineers today. Even in the time that People Data Labs has been around, which is 10 years, we've seen the sophistication of our buyers increased dramatically. Like the way people think about data quality, the way people want to use data, it just keeps getting more and more sophisticated. I think that's really the core of why you see so many providers spin up and spin down in the space. One of the nice things about us, if I could sell us a little bit, is that we're really, really focused at its core on the data. We really want to make sure that our data is usable by our customers. I think where a lot of companies fall into the trap, especially in B2B intelligence, so the sales and marketing space, is companies start building interfaces, they start building tools, they get lost from that core of just really having high quality data. Because high quality data is what wins, in my mind, in the market in the end. As the market's definition of high quality shifts, you have to shift with it.
