Blake, your lies do not become you, but that's fine. Y Reefi Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. Here we go. Blake, you and I were talking last night and this morning about what the lead should be today. And there were many options, including how Ben Shapiro got into Harvard, talking about catering carts and whether foreign governments were involved. There were so many options.
But we've been wanting to cover this story. And it turns out that this baby has been born. And I'll give you the backstory. If you have not followed this story, it is truly harrowing. It's a California surrogacy drama. And a woman who refused to abort the baby has now given birth. And her name is McKenna West. And I'll just tell you where this is going from my perspective right here at the onset. I think McKenna West is an absolute hero. So McKenna West, it was a surrogate. Now we can get into what we think about surrogacies in a moment here. But she was a surrogate mom who refused to abort the baby despite the wishes of the boy's biological parents. Now she gave birth early Wednesday among a bitter legal battle. And here is the situation. She's from Alaska. She was carrying a baby for the couple. At the fetus' 20-week scan, not fetus, I'm reading for a story, with the baby's 20-week scan, doctors discovered it had a hypoplastic left heart syndrome. It's a rare birth defect where the left side heart doesn't grow correctly and it requires about three surgeries to correct it once the child is born. Now, the surrogacy agreement, Blake, and this is where you're not a lawyer, but you play one on TV from time to time, it had an agreement that allowed the couple to choose to terminate the pregnancy if there was an anomaly found. So, but here's what happened. McKenna refused to do this. She flees to Texas and where she would be seen as the birth mother, according to the Dallas Morning News.
So she delivered Baby Gabriel, who she got to name, and now the attorney for the intended parents has told the Dallas Morning News, our clients' only focus at this time is ensuring that their baby receives the medical care vitally needed and that as his parents are able to spend every precious moment they can with him. So here's the problem. So the intended parents are suing McKenna, and they had a court date later this month, but it's unclear how this multi-state battle will play out. Here's my simple logic, Blake, and you can tell me why I'm being far too simplistic in this world full of lawyers and weirdness and surrogacy.
You do not get the right to claim it as your baby when you wanted that baby dead.

The logic is simple. Your womb, your baby, just as God intended. So if you're going to play with fire like this and rent out another woman's womb, then you've got to deal with the consequences that there could be consequences. There could be conflict that arises. And God bless Ken Paxton. He's been fighting for this baby. This baby will be okay, by the way. The hospital that this baby is at has a hundred percent success rate with this particular procedure, but it remains unclear. And McKenna has not been able to see baby Gabriel since the birth, so it remains unclear what's going to happen here. All right, Blake, the floor is yours.
