Do you ever have like creative differences and you want to punch them in the face a bit?
Maddy Tyers (0:05)
Maybe I sold it a bit too much earlier. Delight is maybe a stretch. No, look, we get along.
Sarah Roberts (0:10)
I'm really bad at high fives, contrary to what you might think.
Sam Frost (0:14)
I never thought about your high fives.
Sarah Roberts (0:16)
You high five me quite a bit actually.
Sam Frost (0:17)
Do I? Oh, it's fun, yeah.
Maddy Tyers (0:19)
And I always get nervous.
Sarah Roberts (0:20)
Okay, I'm gonna go there.
Sam Frost (0:21)
Oh, what are you gonna do? Yeah. We are very excited for our guest today. Maddy, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you guys for having me.
Maddy Tyers (0:28)
I'm stoked to be on the couch.
Sam Frost (0:30)
You're looking very colourful and amazing.
Maddy Tyers (0:32)
Thank you. Yeah, I'm bringing a little bit of lightness to the cold, dreary day outside. It's a little bit fresh here in Melbourne. So yeah, ready to bring a bit of sunshine. But we've got a lot of sunshine here.
SPEAKER_4 (0:43)
I love the sunflowers.
Sam Frost (0:45)
Thank you so much. And speaking of sunshine, you have a new series that's coming out, Sunny Dispositions.
Sarah Roberts (0:50)
That was a brilliant segue.
Maddy Tyers (0:53)
Well done.
Sam Frost (0:56)
I'm not known for it. So I was pleasantly surprised with myself. Let's talk about the series. So it's coming out on 9 and Stan.
Maddy Tyers (1:03)
Correct. Yeah.
In the next couple of months. So we go to air and streaming in September, first week of September. And yeah, I'm just so excited to get this little baby out into the ether. It's been a couple of years in the works. I want to say a couple of years. It's been like just two. A really good mate of mine, Simon Taylor, wonderful comedian here in Melbourne, is a good mate of mine and one of his best mates, Josh, is also a lovely friend. And they had this opportunity come across when they came across a studio, an empty kind of bespoke co-working space in Brunswick about 18 months ago. And it was a space that Simon's friend at the time was running. And he got done for fraud. And I believe fled the country. This is a story, all right. And Simon was like, well, why you're in trouble with the law? Can we borrow the space? And we literally had this studio for like two weeks, I believe, before it all got closed up. And Simon's like, quick, let's write a show. And so The Sunny Disposition pilot was written in like less than a week. And then we shot it like a week later.
Literally like ridiculous. And then the entire office space got kind of closed down.
And so the actual show is very much an inspiration, was inspired by the space that they had available to them. And all of us, you know, lovely actors are all just mates that were like, let's make a cool thing in a really short period of time and see what happens. Yeah, here we are. Like a year and a half later, we've shot, reshot the pilot. We've shot another five episodes on top of that, and it's ready to go out to the world. So.
Sam Frost (2:40)
Wow. And how are you feeling for it to go out? Because obviously when you're working on something like, you're like, this feels really good. This is great. But then there's a whole other level when you're releasing it out to the world.
Maddy Tyers (2:51)
Yeah, totally. I know we had a little advanced screening last week, the week before, and played the first two episodes. And it was so it was terrifying watching other people watch it, but also like rewarding at the same time, hearing laughs and seeing where things land. And so, yeah, I'm just I'm excited to share it. And we had so much fun making it, making it. So I just I hope that people see that when they're watching it. And I think just the theme of the show as well, being podcasting. I mean, it feels very meta being here today.
It's I do feel it's a very timely kind of topic to cover. I mean, I'm such a podcast nerd. I listen to so many podcasts, like podcasts multiple times a day. And having a show that's based around that world and what it looks like behind the scenes, I think will be interesting to people, hopefully. And it's a bit of fun. It's silly. So yeah, I'm excited.
