Welcome to Total Soccer Show's USMNT Weekly. It's our regular foray into all things men's national team On this episode, as we exit a successful international window for the program, we're seeing who and what has seen its stock rise and whom and what has seen its stock fall in the past few weeks. So let's get trading in USMNT stock, everybody. My name's Ryan Bailey. Joining me today, Chief Trader, Taylor Rocko. Hello, Taylor, how are you?
Taylor Rockwell (0:48)
I'm doing well. Trader or traitor? Because big difference, but maybe the same. You don't know.
Ryan Bailey (0:53)
You hear what you hear. That's fine.
Taylor Rockwell (0:54)
Okay, fair enough. I can't believe that Ryan insisted on doing another International Break episode. I thought we were done. We had all agreed to do a Premier League preview, and then here we are. Ryan wants to talk USA one more time.
Ryan Bailey (1:07)
We all know, if it were up to me, it would just be International Breaks. We wouldn't have any domestic soccer. We would just do friendlies all year long. It would be glorious, Taylor.
Taylor Rockwell (1:16)
I wouldn't mind it. I'm not going to lie. I enjoyed not having to watch 17 games on a Sunday evening. So this is much more palatable by comparison.
Ryan Bailey (1:24)
All right. Let's see how many games Graham Rosman watched on a Sunday evening this past Sunday. Graham, how are you?
Taylor Rockwell (1:28)
Too many.
SPEAKER_3 (1:29)
I'm good, Ryan Bailey. I'm looking forward to club soccer being back. I know you are as well. You're overjoyed that this never-ending international break is finally ending. However, I do have a point of clarification to make. One of the reasons that I can get through these breaks is my team just plays right through. So I'll be in, don't lose many players to international soccer during these breaks. AFC Wimbledon do the same. So they played like two or three games during this break.
Ryan Bailey (1:58)
We've had several games postponed because we're so high-brow, actually, Graham. I'll have you know. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_3 (2:03)
You must have had one postponed. You played, who did you play? You played Barnett a couple of days ago.
Ryan Bailey (2:09)
That was the EFL trophy. Fine.
SPEAKER_3 (2:12)
Okay. So what competitions do you pay attention to? You don't pay attention to the Nations League, you don't pay attention to the EFL trophy.
Ryan Bailey (2:18)
I did pay attention. We had some league games canceled. Hey, let's not get bogged down in this. Let's say hello to Joe Lowry instead.
Joseph Lowery (2:26)
Hey, what's up? If we'd started this show, I don't know, about 40 minutes earlier, in terms of our recording time, we could have coincided the start of this episode with the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange. That would have been like a nice little nod to the concept of today's show.
Also, Ryan, why were those games postponed? Just because of international call-ups or what?
SPEAKER_3 (2:43)
Because Ryan didn't want to play them.
Ryan Bailey (2:46)
Yeah, they listened to me. Simply that, Joe. Yeah, exactly that.
SPEAKER_3 (2:50)
Yeah, missed opportunity. Go on, Ryan.
Ryan Bailey (2:53)
The third tier of English soccer is jam-packed full of international players who can't wait to go out and rep their countries. That's why, Joe.
SPEAKER_3 (3:01)
There you go.
Yeah, missed opportunity not to coincide with the New York Stock Exchange opening and also a missed opportunity not to introduce Joe as Trader Joe. I feel like that was like, oh, just sitting right there.
Ryan Bailey (3:12)
Just sitting right there.
That was good. Well done, Graham. Very good indeed. Joe, I've always wanted to, they have an actual bell they ring, don't they, to open the Stock Exchange in New York. I've always wanted to give that little ding. How about you?
Joseph Lowery (3:26)
I mean, I can't say it's ever been terribly tempting for me, but anytime you get to ring a bell, that's probably going to be the best moment of your day, just in terms of that one sheer instance of time, getting to clatter something and make that aggressive of a sound all in one go. Yeah, I guess I haven't considered it enough, but I would also now like to do that. Let's do it together. You pull left, I'll pull right. We'll get it done.
Ryan Bailey (3:47)
Deal. At my school when I was younger, at the end of the day, there was an actual bell which we walk up and down the playground to ring to notify to the whole school that school was over. That's 10 cryo.
