Welcome to The Wrap, I'm Marley Kayden, here to take you through today's market action. Let's take a look at where the markets closed to end the day. Stocks fell as global yields continued to spike, with global sovereign bond yields hitting their highest level since 2008, and sparking a global bond sell-off. The Nasdaq fell 1.3%, while the S&P 500 and Dow both fell about three-quarters of a percent. The markets were not helped by the spike in oil, which rose more than 5%, and topped the $90 level for the first time since July, as the US stepped in in attacks on Iran. Now, energy was the leading sector, of course, today, while consumer discretionary, industrials, and materials all fell more than 1%.
As we look at stocks that were moving today, CrowdStrike was one of the biggest losers in the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100, falling more than 7% as rising bond yields and inflation concerns weighed on growth stocks. The drop comes just one day after CrowdStrike hit an all-time high, despite the sell-off shares remain up more than 80% in 2026 Dell fell about 7% during the session, but then surged in the post-market after a huge beat in its second-quarter earnings report. The company's $7.03 adjusted EPS was 43% higher than the estimates, while revenue of nearly $47 billion beat by $2 billion and grew $18 billion from the same quarter last year. Its infrastructure revenue grew 89%, AI server revenue doubled, and its backlog grew to $95 billion.
Palo Alto Networks fell 5% on Tuesday, but was holding up in the post market after it posted strong earnings. Its EPS and revenue were just above the estimates, with total revenue growing 34% and Next Generation Security ARR growing 63%.
The company also posted guidance above Wall Street estimates. As we look ahead at what we're watching for tomorrow, the ADP Employment Report will be released ahead of Friday's full August jobs report. Post market will have earnings from Broadcom, HPE, NetApp and Snowflake. That is going to do it for the wrap. I'm Marley Kayden.
