David Lutteral (0:05)

I had my wife's auntie's 60th on the weekend. So I guess, what is that, my auntie-in-law? I don't know how that works.

Susie O'Neill (0:11)

Auntie-in-law. I know, but all day you've been saying to me, I've got a question for you that they were asking at this, was it a dinner party or a party?

Nick (0:16)

It was a dinner, it was a dinner.

David Lutteral (0:17)

So all my wife's family are in town. They're from Victoria, some are from Tasmania, and some live here. So they all came here.

They booked out this Airbnb. Some of them were staying there for a while. We took Flo over. She slept the night. We stayed there. Everyone was bunkering down for a bit of a night. So it was a few drinks that we had, Susie.

Susie O'Neill (0:34)

60-year-olds on the source.

David Lutteral (0:35)

Yeah, 60-year-olds on the source, reminiscing and talking about the good times. And then it just came up with the classic, we've spoken about it on this show a few times before, but back in the day, we're talking about kids' swimming lessons. And then back in the day when you got told that if you were in the pool, it changes color, the dye, all that sort of gear. And we were saying, had you actually test that? And we were saying all the boys would just let a little bit out and then just see if it did or if it didn't and then do that. And some people were wiggling out by it.

And then someone said, oh, everyone gets so over the top about lying about weeing in pools. Like everyone does it.

And I said, I agree. But then they go, actually, Nick, you work with Susie O'Neill. She's an Olympian. She spent more than half her life in a pool. Surely she wees in a pool. Or has weed in a pool in one of her race suits, whether it be race, meet or training. And I said, I don't-

Susie O'Neill (1:24)

Is this really the question?

Nick (1:25)

I swear.

David Lutteral (1:25)

I said, I don't know Susie's pool urine story.

Ash Bradnam (1:29)

I feel like you've already admitted it, haven't you?

Nick (1:31)

Yeah, I have.

Susie O'Neill (1:31)

I used to talk about it a lot. And now I'm disgraced with myself.

David Lutteral (1:34)

Oh, so you did do it? Because I said, I didn't know. I hadn't heard that before.

Susie O'Neill (1:37)

Well, back in the day, everyone did, because you were training for six hours a day. You weren't allowed to get out. Well, you could, but it was frowned upon to leave the pool.

You know, because you would miss laps. But I am really against it now. Like, I'm so against it that I don't even want to. I wish you had told me that was the question, because I wouldn't have partaken in the segment.

David Lutteral (1:57)

What's so bad about in the race?

Susie O'Neill (1:59)

It's just uncouth.

Ash Bradnam (2:01)

I think everyone, I mean, who ha... I mean, Nick, surely, you... I mean, you know, let's take professional swimming out of the picture. I mean, Susan's doing it in that regard.

David Lutteral (2:09)

I had to. You're doing it in your...

Ash Bradnam (2:12)

Because she had to.

But most people are doing it, like, you know, I remember going to... I think it was in, like, Cabo, whatever, in Mexico, going to... being in some, like, you know, party sort of hotel for, like, five days. And we were just in the... you know, it was a pool party. And I, to this day, couldn't tell you where the toilets were.

Nick (2:32)

No, because you're drinking beers sitting in a pool.

Ash Bradnam (2:33)

I was in the pool for a combined 40 hours drinking beers all day. And I couldn't have been the only one doing it.

SPEAKER_5 (2:38)

100%. Everyone does it.

David Lutteral (2:39)

People just lie about it.

Susie O'Neill (2:40)

I never do it now. Honestly, I'm really against it.

You know why else? I think it's really bad for your pelvic floor. I've discovered that because...

David Lutteral (2:47)

Oh, because of the running water, it instantly releases.

Susie O'Neill (2:49)

And you're always triggered the whole time you're near water. You have a shower, you hop in near a pool, you see a pool.

David Lutteral (2:53)

I get that with a shower. The shower comes on, I need to wee.

Susie O'Neill (2:55)

Yeah. So I am totally, I only wee in the toilet, like a normal person now.

David Lutteral (3:00)

Did you ever, when you got ahead in a race, would you wee on your competitors in their wake?
