October 9, 2026

Ellyse Perry was running past the Nova studios on her morning run, just as we were scheduled to chat to Patty Carrigan. We decided to create one of the sporting crossovers by introducing them to one another. Love what you hear?

Ellyse Perry (0:18)

Hi, Patrick.

Pat Carrigan (0:20)

Morning, guys. How are you?

David Lutteral (0:21)

Yeah, good. I guess we've got a special guest host in the studios right now. She's been jogging past the studios here. Patty, at 130 Commercial Road, Tenerife, is none other than Ellyse Perry, the famous Australian cricketer.

Pat Carrigan (0:39)

Morning, Ellyse, the great Australian cricketer. Yeah, there you go.

David Lutteral (0:43)

So two of our greats here head to head. So we'll get to you in a second, Patty, but thanks. I saw you running the other day, Ellyse, and you just ran straight past me. I didn't yell out because I thought it'd be weird.

And today you took a photo and you came in.

Ellyse Perry (0:56)

I did, yeah. I was talking outside the building and she didn't say hello to me the other day, so I thought I'd make it a bit more obvious.

David Lutteral (1:01)

Come back. We'll come back at the end because Ellyse is playing Fright today at Allen Boarder Field against Bangladesh, then on Sunday, and then again next week as well. It's a triple header.

Ellyse Perry (1:12)

Triple header, yeah.

David Lutteral (1:13)

2020?

Ellyse Perry (1:14)

One day, it's not that night.

David Lutteral (1:15)

One day, ODIs, oh my God, that's fantastic.

Susie O'Neill (1:17)

I want to get along to that. And at the end, we're just going to play a quick game of Battle of the Sexes.

That was a joke.

Ellyse Perry (1:22)

Oh.

Susie O'Neill (1:24)

Well, you have to say it's a joke.

David Lutteral (1:25)

Sometimes it's hard to tell, Patrick. So, you can feel free to fly in with questions. You're a co-host now, Ellyse.

Talking through it, Patty, congratulations on the Australian selection first and foremost. And Cap, what's been a mixed bag of a year for you and your teams, but hopefully a great way to end it.

Pat Carrigan (1:44)

Yeah, thanks guys. It wasn't the greatest year at the Bronx, but it's nice to get into camp with some of these lads and hopefully have a successful World Cup campaign. So yeah, five weeks of traveling with the boys, what could be better?

Susie O'Neill (1:59)

When does it all start? Are you in camp at the moment, Patty?

Pat Carrigan (2:02)

Yeah, day one was yesterday, so officially in Sydney at the moment. And then we bounce around, so we go to Sydney, to Townsville, to Brissy next week. So it'll be exciting to have a test at Suncorp too.

David Lutteral (2:15)

Tough first game though against the Kiwis.

Pat Carrigan (2:19)

Yeah, first game against the Kiwis this week, so Thursday night, Allianz, it'll be pretty exciting. They got a really good team this year too, so who knows, it's going to be a wide open World Cup.

David Lutteral (2:30)

Yeah, Ellyse is a Parramatta supporter, we should just say that from the outset, which finished almost equal with you guys in the later this year.

Ellyse Perry (2:37)

That's just the standard year.

David Lutteral (2:39)

That's Parramatta every year. So what's the schedule for you and the other rep players, Patty, do you get more time off towards the back end now before the preseason starts next year?

Pat Carrigan (2:51)

Yeah, so outbreak, if you don't play finals, outbreak kind of gets split up. So you have a couple of weeks and then go into camp for hopefully the full five and play the final and then get another couple of weeks off after it. So I'll be back, I don't even know yet, but back in the December or just before Christmas, probably for an army camp, which will be so much fun.

Susie O'Neill (3:12)

Well, so they're looking for a new captain of the Broncos. You got a three hat in the ring for that one, Patty?

Pat Carrigan (3:19)

I don't have LinkedIn, it might be on LinkedIn. You've done a bit of post about it on LinkedIn. Yeah, really motivational quotes.

David Lutteral (3:26)

Yeah, exactly. It's AI, everything you say. It's really, really cool. Another thing I've never asked Ellyse, I think, have you ever studied? Because obviously Patrick's studying, he's a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, inadvertent commas, honours.

Have you ever, Ellyse, have you ever studied?

Ellyse Perry (3:44)

That totally puts me to shame. Nothing? I did a Bachelor in Economics and Social Sciences. What is that place in the show? A million years ago.

Pat Carrigan (3:51)

Oh wow.

Ellyse Perry (3:51)

So you got a degree. No, I never.

Pat Carrigan (3:54)

She's completed it. No, I didn't finish it. No, she didn't finish it.

Ellyse Perry (3:57)

Yeah, I reckon I got two thirds of the way in and then.
