Carson Soucy is heading to his third Metropolitan Division team in less than a year. He signed a professional tryout agreement with the Columbus Blue Jackets and will attend their training camp. This comes after he started last season with the Rangers, then was traded to the Islanders in January. If Soucy makes the Blue Jackets roster, it'll be a quick tour of the division. He played seven seasons in the NHL before this recent stretch. He was traded to the Islanders for a third round pick in the 2026 NHL draft. Before the trade, Soucy was a key part of the Rangers defense, averaging over 17 minutes a game and blocking a lot of shots. The Rangers have since moved on from his defense partner, Will Borgen, trading him to Boston. They brought in new veterans to fill those defense spots. Soucy played 30 games with the Islanders, putting up four points.

He's got a total of 99 points in over 400 NHL games across several teams. His career plus minus is positive 54

Columbus is looking to improve after missing the playoffs last season. While they have strong defensemen on their top pairings, Soucy could compete for a spot on the third pair or as an extra defenseman. The Blue Jackets haven't made the playoffs since the 2019-20 season.
