The new edition of the McGraw-Hill textbook the district is asking for would include history from the past 20 years, like Obama, Biden and Trump's presidencies. The district admitted to some possible concerns when it comes to passages about the abortion debate and the sexual liberation and counterculture in the 1960s. But most concerns from the board were about chapter titles going as far back as the 1800s.
A spokesperson with McGraw-Hill, the publisher of the book, responded in a statement saying it ensures, quote, our content is accurate and engaging, minimizes bias, reflects a balance of perspectives, includes up-to-date scholarship, and delivers sound instruction.

Now, that was CBS 21 in Pennsylvania reporting on York County School District there and the debate over anti-Americanism in our school textbooks. I wanna talk a little bit about that today. We got a lot to get into in this hour. And I can't wait to connect to Dr. Susan Hansen, who's gonna be joining me here. One of the things I really enjoyed, and that was our countdown to 250 as we reached our nation's birthday.
And I did a segment, and if you missed any of it, of course you can go back and check it out, called Rediscovering America. And I thought, that deserves, Dr. Hansen deserves more air, really. It's just such a great conversation of learning our nation's history. And I think there's more to it than just learning about the revolution or walking through some of the chapters of some of the wars we had.
And I was talking to my team, and I want to do this for you, and we're going to do this in the days ahead. I want to continue our series. It'll be called Rediscovering America, Understanding the Ideas, History and Faith That Shaped Our Nation. And we'll look at everything from American civics, how government actually works so you can learn Bill of Rights, Federalism, to American history, to religious liberty, to some great American speeches, to American character, and so much more. So if you really want to rediscover America, take the ride with us. Dr. Hanssen joins us just about every two weeks, and we'll walk you through some of the great ideas, histories and faith that continue to shape our great nation. I want to talk a little bit about where we are right now, because we're a new nation. 250 years is not a whole lot of time. And I see some ideologies, some philosophies, some political parties that are rising now that I never in a million years thought I would see. And I'm sure you've heard about what the New York City mayors are on Mamdani's doing in the Big Apple, right? I've not had a chance to talk a lot about this. Maybe we'll get into it today, too. He's opening these city-owned grocery stores, and he's publishing. He's just published also a list of people who have second homes over a million dollars in the city, including their addresses. That's doxing. I mean, really? You're going to publish it for what purpose? So people will go and protest in people's front yards. This is the United States of America. That, of course, is all that socialist revolutionaries will need to target these people for whatever nefarious purpose that they have in mind. We'll see. I'm putting it on your radar today. I'm just reporting on what happened. Let's see what happens in the days ahead to these people with their second homes, right? These people probably worked hard, sacrificed, right? Maybe built a business. You know, yeah, maybe it was capitalism to help them achieve that. Maybe it was something else. I don't know. But should they be publicly displayed like that? You know, the publication of that list was deliberate.
But that's how socialists work. And the whole idea, of course, is that the state will charge them extra for having those homes and then will transfer that money to the city because the city's gotta come up with a way to cover the $150 million deficit that they're facing right now. And they'll also have to come up with some way to pay for grocery stores that are gonna be, guess what, selling their products 30% less than privately owned grocery stores. There are credits that are slamming these, what's going on right now. And I'll tell you what, we're gonna discuss it with Dr. Hansen.
Lot to get into her with today. And I wanna talk a little bit about the Democratic Socialist agenda. It's crazy, in my opinion, it really is. The idea of socialism gaining traction in the United States.
