All right, what's up, everybody? Welcome to the party. Today's Thursday, December, December. Hello. Ah, didn't have a great night's sleep. Good morning, everybody. Today is September 17th, 2026 It's a Thursday. Welcome to Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Gerald Auger. If you're looking to stay current on the top cyber news stories of the day, while hanging out with like-minded, awesome professionals, well, then you're in the right place, get your coffee. I got a full cup. Let's Coffee Cup Cheers and get into it, shall we? Let's roll.

All right. Good morning, everybody. I do hope you're well. Greetings from Kansas City, James McQuigan, asking how I'm feeling. Okay, did not sleep well last night. I basically, for those who are been tracking the story of my whatever ongoing illness, basically at this point, I feel like I jumped into a pool and got pool water up my nose. So my nose and sinuses are burning in the back of my throat, hurts. But aside from that, I am doing great. And I hope you are doing great as well. I hope you're doing, excuse me, better than me and I hope you're having a great week, guys. I can't believe it's already Thursday. We are absolutely slaying this week, barreling down towards a Friday and then the weekend. All about good times, guys. Listen, here's the promise. Over the next hour, me, you and Port Zero, TJ, Marcus Kyler, Will Chen, James McQuiggan, D-Prem 11, we're all collectively going to go through the top eight cyber stories of the day. We'll get the headline in the surface level news. And then in the moment, because I don't know what stories are coming, in the moment, I will go beyond that headline and go further to give you additional insights, additional value that you're not going to get anywhere else. But again, I don't know what we're going to cover. I don't know what I'm going to say.

I don't research or prep for the show.

CyberSecBacon says they started listening to my audio book today. All right. Thank you, CyberSecBacon. I hope you get value from it. I am a huge fan of trying to help people. That's my jam. Every single episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, including this one, Brogan's Hero, Mikko728 and Tom Lavin out of the Great Buffalo is worth half a CPE. How's that work? Very simple. Go to cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io.

You'll see here, claim your half a CPE for attending today's brief. Now this URL, this website we're looking at right now, there's a link in the description below. If you're in chat live right now and you do exclamation point CPE, Charlie Papa Echo, the bot, the bot will respond with the URL. If you're listening on audio podcast app of choice like Spotify or Apple Podcast, the description will have the URL. We make it very easy for you to find this because I want you to take advantage of it. All right. You basically will see it's today's date, today's episode number. This rotates daily. So if you are listening to this episode and it's like November 7th, you're not going to get access to this page. It'll say November 7th. Put your name, email, a couple of checkboxes. Hit that yellow at-task station button. It logs it in the database in the back end.

Right? Like Sir Mix-A-Lot, baby got back. CPEs got back. The database on the back end is mighty and big. It's a big old butt, and it's full of CPE at-task stations. And once a month, I go into the database and I export all of them. I dump them, and then I whip out some emails and I send them to you. And then we all get cool CPE evidence in a PDF format. It's pretty tight. It's been in beta for a few months. I feel like I got my fingers crossed. I feel like October is going to be the jam. October is when we move to Prod.

Now, every single day of the week has a special segment. And Thursdays is Dan Reardon's What's Your Meme? Dan Reardon makes custom memes for the community. He's been doing it for years. And every Thursday, we regale another one of his custom memes. Now, I want everyone to know, I do not.

I do not censor these memes. In the last three years, the hundreds of memes. Dan, there's only been one that I had to push back on, and I can't even remember what it was. All right, hey, Elliot Matice, the real vanilla ice is here. Let's go. All right, so we'll get that at the mid-roll.

If you're here for the first time, let us know in chat, friends, with a hashtag first timer. Go in the machine. Baby got data. Oh my God, Becky, look at her tables.
