So here we go. Court is underway in the trial of Matthew Farwell for the murder of Sandra Birchmore. And on October 13th, jurors in Matthew Farwell's federal trial saw uncensored photographs of Sandra Birchmore's body from multiple angles. Some raised their hands to their faces. Sandra, as you know, if you've been following this case, was found deceased in her Canton apartment on February 4th of 2021 She was eight to 10 weeks pregnant. Three women who knew Sandra testified, a detective, a school administrator, and a property manager. Each one described a woman who was building a life. The defense says Sandra chose to end hers. October 13th was the first test of that claim. And as you know, there's no cameras in the courtroom, there's no audio in the courtroom. So we are doing our darnedest, grabbing reporting from everybody, and then compiling it here, and going, here is as clear a way that we can present to you what happened in that courtroom. Detective Heather Cheever met Sandra through the Stoughton Police Department's explorers program. She became one of Sandra's mentors, helped with homework, stayed in touch over Facebook Messenger. Cheever never knew about any relationship between Sandra and Matthew Farwell, apparently. She told the jury that if she had known, she would have reported it immediately. Now, anyone's guess as to how far that would have gone, if she would have reported it immediately, is, you know, up in the air. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, considering you already had three other officers on the force.
Having inappropriate relationships with Sandra Birchmore. Coulda guessed that might have fallen on some deaf ears. I would love to know more about.
What those interactions were like. And I'm curious what kind of tells there were. If any, are there things that that officer looks back on and goes, huh, maybe I should have asked more questions there. And I'm not saying that in any way to be disparaging of that officer or like you shouldn't. I mean, if you didn't know, you didn't know. And it sounds like she was really, she was doing what you're supposed to do is being part of that program, mentoring the youth. And she was taking that job seriously, unlike the man who's on trial. Sandra, if you didn't know this, lost her mother at the age of 18 and her grandmother shortly thereafter.
Dad's not been in the picture. So this has been her upbringing. The male figures in her life were these officers. Who were passing her around.
A cheap rag doll. It's so heartbreaking.
These men who were the the male influences in her life certainly gave her no reason to trust men. And I understand why she would pick the bear in that scenario. Sandra lost her mother at 18 and her grandfather shortly after. Cheever testified both losses hit her hard, but Sandra made no attempts to end her life after either one. In May of 2020, Cheever responded to a call at Sandra's aunt's house. Sandra was upset about being displaced from the home and said she wanted to hurt herself. Cheever didn't believe she meant it. The Section 12 hold was standard protocol. The last time Cheever saw Sandra was in a Walgreens parking lot in the fall of 2020 She described her as really upbeat and easygoing, the way she always was. When Cheever learned Sandra was dead, said I was upset beside myself because I didn't believe it. In her career, she'd responded to several hangings and never seen one where the person was found in a seated position on the ground. Have you? You've heard of that being a common occurrence? Someone doing that while sitting usually doesn't work out. Just doesn't. Is physics involved? And somehow physics apparently Farwell didn't pass that class either.
There's a dopey Farwell boys. What are they going to do in their group? They're going to be police officers. OK, well good. Are they doing it for the right reasons because they want to protect and serve or because they're not qualified to work at the closed down blockbuster?
I'm going to go with probably not qualified to work at the blockbusters. Let's give them a gun and a badge. That's the shitty part about so many of these departments. There are wonderful officers who are trying to protect and serve and do their job. I know, there are, and then there's absolute shit like Farwell Brothers.
But here's the problem, my friends in law enforcement. You guys need to speak up when you have shit in your departments. Even if it's not directly affecting you at that moment in time, that shit needs to go. You're sick of people calling out cops, you're sick of people being down on the police, then start from the fucking inside and start removing these motherfuckers. When you see them happening, they're not just good old boys, boys clubs are going to do this. Oh, fuck that. You want to have people stop looking at you so damn negatively. I'm sick of talking negatively about this shit. Start fixing it on the inside, because the outside we're already out here screaming, you got fucking problems. And it seems the reaction is, how could anyone say anything bad about a police officer? Gee, I fucking wonder. Well, I'm not like that. I'm not talking about you. But if you know someone who is shitty and you're on the force, and you're not doing anything about it and raising hell with the people that need to have hell raised with your superiors, the public, whatever it may be, then you're complicit.
